Melt n Dip — Restaurant in Lyons Township

Very bad first experience! I’m Hispanic and felt discriminated. On 06/29/2020 around 11:36pm my children and I walked to the counter to order a banana slip and a passion platter and was told that they were closed. The gentleman said that they could only serve gelato. I said, “Well the banana slip contains gelato.” once again he said no only gelato. I moved to the side and ask the kids if they would like a scoop of gelato if so what flavor so then a young lady (looked Arabian) steps up to order so I get back in line (behind her) so she is trying to order more than gelato so there’s three guys at the at the register one looks at me and I say to him that my kids decided to get gelato. So then the gentleman asks the young lady to move to the side and wait 15 minutes and then she can order whatever she wanted to order. The lady confused responded with a no and why. So he looks at me and them at her and asked her if she speaks Arabic and she said yes so then all three employees were speaking Arabic to her and she again responded in English that she wasn’t understanding why they wanted her to move to the side and allow them to take my gelato order. So then I jumped in, I said to her out loud in front of the employees, “they are asking you to move to the side for 15 minutes and for them to take my gelato order and leave and then they’ll take your order that way I wouldn’t notice that they were making an exception for you when they told me that I couldn’t order anything other than a scoop of gelato, they thought I wasn’t going to notice, that’s why they started talking you in another language so I wouldn’t understand and is very disrespectful that they are doing that. So she looks at them and all employees at the register looked at me with a dumb face. We both walked out and she says to me that they were very disrespectful and complained about the bad customer service and how they were trying not to serve me. So we get in our car and I see 2 of the employees walking out of the place and walked towards the lady, they talked for a minute and the they took her inside the restaurant. I’m sure they served her. It made me cry when my kids asked why they did want to serve us. Never ever going back! This is unacceptable! I really hope the owner gets to read my experience. I will file a...

Okay I’m going to be honest, I really couldn’t believe it when I heard this store opening closer to my house, the first 3 times the costumer service, the food, and how fast they got our orders was just amazing, “Only when it’s not busy tho” but the last time was not that good, got really disappointed, i came from a 30 mins driving with some friends to eat there, they told us the credit machine is broke only cash for today, “but we can make it for you till you get here and pay for it” they said, I was impressed so after we came back we didn’t find anything ready, they didn’t give us any number to hold for our order, even tho we told them.. and we waited more than 1 hour, so we changed it to take away not in the store, then after we got it we opened it there was some stuff missing.. well I understand that sometimes they get busy, Working really hard, and trying their best, but also there should be some professionals to deal with this, I will also admit they were so respectful, and nice customer service.. and last thing and the important PART IN THIS REVIEW, the last time I was there it was so crowded and didn’t really feel save going in, I didn’t find any customers wearing masks, this should be a required thing to do before going in especially if there is a lot of people there, like this is a serious problem, PLEASE just make a note on the door that the masks required before going inside.

IMPORTANT NOTE to the PEOPLE who didn’t RECOMMEND THIS PLACE, READ THIS: Also, to be honest I’ve read the bad reviews, please don’t judge them while they are crowded, they just opened no store ever in this world don’t have issues, just give your problem and ur issue to them, and recommend them for the best, they will do better, but the food was sooo good, give them chance to improve it, then you can judge whatever u want if they didn’t improve after long time of the opening day..
