My husband and I ate here when it first opened and it was so yummy. I had a client out in the area and thought I’d stop in since our first experience was so great at the original pancake house in La Grange Illinois. The menu looked was pretty extensive for breakfast. A little pricey, but not bad on the prices. Wasn’t quite sure what to order. Ordered an omelette with spinach cheddar cheese mushrooms plus a coffee sourdough toast. Pretty simple order. The waitress brought me coffee after 10 minutes. Poured the cream in it curdled the bus boy took it back. Another five minutes went by. she came back with another cup of coffee now mind you it’s not busy there’s maybe eight people or tables time is 1215. I really expected it to be a lot busier. I’m sure it is in the morning. All the cream she bought me curdled in a new cup of coffee she took it back. Never asked if I wanted anything else to drink. I sat there for another 25 minutes waiting for my eggs and bacon. Bacon was super hard. I sent it back and asked if I could have medium. It came back still hard little bit better. The eggs were for an omelette brown on top and no cheddar cheese, the sourdough toast was phenomenal. The really sad thing was when she took my coffee that I used to stir the cream. I had used my fork and asked for a new one eggs came breakfast no fork. The waitress was serving other people Which I get if it was super busy. Orders are coming out. You need to deliver them but bring my fork too. I had to ask-another waitress to bring me a fork. That we just brought it out right away as my food was sitting there and I couldn’t eat without a fork and an omelette. Kinda explains why they’re not very busy.. I receivemy bill and $3.99 for a cup of coffee is still on the total of $25.99 . I called her over and said”oh you forgot to take the coffee off”. The waitress says oh it’s still on there. Yeah I’ll take it Off. This was terrible service. OK food OK bacon nothing Great would never come back.

omg! Omg! OMG! The Original Pancake House closed it's Oak Park restaurant and moved to Forest Park, then closed that one. The the La Grange one closed, BUT it popped up in another La Grange location (the defunct Baker's Square). The OPH has revised it's menu and is now breakfast only (sans the tasteless biscuits and gravy). The new menu has only favorites, made how you like 'em (Apple, Dutch pancakes; baked omelettes in more variety of fillings; potato, silver dollar pancakes and fluffy, crispy waffles)! The OPH still has the thick cut bacon, which never really crisps up, but the sausages are great. Coffee is dark roast and very good, served with real cream and served in mugs made strictly for OPH by locals. The mugs are available for purchase ( it was my birthday gift). Being the holiday season, the theme was Grinchy Christmas. There is a Pancakes and Pajamas theme on December 18th. AND there is a Carry Out option. The decor is breathtaking and was an amazing feat to turn the Baker's Square into a modern chalet. Just beautiful! At $7 or more dollars more than your average diner, it's worth the trip. This was my birthday breakfast (courtesy of my son) and was worth it! So happy! You will be, too.

Had a fantastic breakfast at The Original Pancake House in LaGrange with my family and in-laws. I came with my wife and our children, and from the moment we walked in, we felt right at home. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure everyone—including the kids—was well taken care of. The food was outstanding. We had waffles, pancakes, omelets, and skillets—everything was fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The pancakes and waffles were a hit with the kids, while the omelets and skillets were hearty and satisfying for the adults. You can really taste the quality and care that goes into every dish. The atmosphere is warm and inviting—perfect for families—and the service was top-notch. Another big plus: parking was super easy, which made the whole outing smooth and stress-free. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a delicious, family-friendly breakfast with great service and a welcoming vibe.

So, stopped by with her family today. 4 adults and 2 children. From the time we walked in to the time we actually all recieved our food was 1hr 12minutes, I clocked it to the minute. This is just not acceptable. The place was not full, there were plenty of open tables. There were times I asked for things 2 or 3x before actually having them brought to the table. The food (at least my omelette) was very bland, hardly. any flavor. The coffee was a bit too bitter. We were asked twice, by 2 different people how many in our party before seating us and when we finally got seated there was no silverware on the table, no forks, knives, napkins, not even a teaspoon to stir sugar into your tea or coffee. I think the waitress or staff sensed our frustration at the end of the meal so they discounted one of the meals from the menu, about $15 - but that was offset by the fact the restaurant charges you a "service charge" which was close to $20. You have no say so, it's just charged. So it seems like they tip themselves. To be fair, I don't blame the staff, I'm sure this is a corporate thing. Honestly, after today's visit, if I worked there, I'd be ashamed to charge a "service" fee when the service was slow and not on par with what I expected. Maybe if I ever stop by again this review will be updated and changed but until then this review stands. To Management: Don't sit folks down at a table without making sure there's at least utensils.

Figure out a way to speed up the food coming from the kitchen. Waiting over an hour is just not practical.

Your coffee is bitter.

Your dutch pancake thing tastes like egg more than anything else. No bueno.

The apple pancakes were delicious.

You omelettes are too bland. Don't even think I tasted salt on it.

Your bathroom was clean, thank you.

You need more mugs on display in the front, display looked half empty.

Your bacon was delicious. Good 🐖

Have your waitresses ASK if someone wants butter on their toast, don't just smother it in butter and bring it out.

Parking was easy.

Other patrons were friendly.

Even the staff was friendly but my goodness was the service lacking today, not sure if short staffed or not but left a bitter taste in my mouth, no...

We were very excited when we saw an Original Pancake House was coming to LaGrange because we have great memories of eating at the one downtown. Sad to say we were very underwhelmed and disappointed. We arrived at 8:15am on a Saturday, we had a party of 6 so we wanted to get there early. We were seated right away and the waitress was prompt with our waters and drinks. Our waitress was clearly new (which is understandable since they just opened) however was not trained on the menu. For example, two of us ordered Eggs Benedict and she asked how we wanted our eggs prepared. Another person in our party ordered the Corned Beef Hash entree but instead received the side order of Corned Beef which was lacking the eggs and toast. The waitress quickly addressed the issue and brought out two eggs over easy and toast but when we received our bill we were charged for three side orders; corned beef, eggs and toast. As you can imagine it added up to more than the entree. The baked omelet looked excellent when it arrived however turned out to be very watery, bland and not enjoyable. We ordered the omelet with egg whites which on the menu says can be substituted for no additional charge but later noticed there was an upcharge on our bill. The other frustrating part of our dining experience was one person in our party ordered the apple pancake which came out first (and tasted very good) however the rest of our entrees did not come to the table for another 12-15 mins. On a positive note, the side of thick cut bacon was excellent and perfectly cooked. Our entire dining experience lasted over an hour and half. Given the other breakfast options in LaGrange I dont think we will be back...
