We went to the railhead café today April 23, 2017 the waitress was very nice very cordial everything was clean. We sat down and ordered our tea and ordered our meal on the other side of the restaurant and it is a very small restaurant was a man with tattoos all over his arms and was on his phone he was talking very loud and about every other word was profanity so we asked The waitress to address the man and ask him to stop his profanity or we would have to cancel our order. There was three of us and two of them Our order would have been around $40. Then right after that a family came in with small children the man continued with his profanity they never said anything to him so we canceled our order and got up and left and we will never go back I don't care how good the food is we did not have a chance to try it, but we do not want to have to sit and listen to four letter words from a rude customer. the owners of the place did not seem to bother them that their customers are talking in such a fashion so we will never return to this restaurant ever. some people do not want to have to eat profanity when they are eating their meal . We are traveling, but we travel thru Lytle twice a month. We are tired and hungry it because of a filthy mouth person that was sharing his phone conversation with the entire restaurant we have to drive another 18 miles to eat. I cannot appreciate places like this it's very sad because it is a family restaurant. he sounds like the new DNC chairman with all the profanity...

We have eaten here for years. Food was always real good and service was great. Came with my wife on a Saturday night and the place was dead. Ordered our food. Took a while. Broccoli and cheese soup was so thick that it was hard to eat. Main entree was cold. Mac and cheese which used to be amazing, was very cold. Waitress nuked it and it came back all watery and with no flavor. I ordered a red beans and rice side. Beans came in, no rice. I asked about the rice and that’s when I found out they ran out of rice! They ran out of fries and apparently, we had the last order of Mac and cheese. Perhaps that’s why it was cold? This is easily one of the worse meals we have had in a long time. $45 plus meal, yes, they charged us full price and manager did not come to talk to us after the waitress asked us how was everything and we told her our issues. There are many good restaurants in the area. We probably will not come back....

Appetizers: we did the pick 3 (fried mushrooms, hot wings and mozzarella). The mushrooms were big and juicy (not dry at all). Hot wings were crispy and mozzarella sticks were fine, but nothing to write home about.

The fried chicken sandwich was delicious - juicy chicken and the bun went really well with it. The fried cabbage had great flavor as well (I think aside from that, we’d order other sides next time after trying the other sides we had.)

I think I was a little surprised the batter came off as soon as I started cutting into the chicken fried chicken (usually not a fan of gravy, but Railhead Cafe’s gravy was quite good!), but my son still really enjoyed it. And as for the steak, we’ll pass next time to try something else.

It was nice to try Railhead Cafe on our road trip and good to know it’s quite close to the highway, so you can opt out of your usual fast food if you want...

The portions here are gigantic, truly about three servings of food. It's not a large place and has a distinctive railroad decor, serving a variety of comfort food, burgers, and steaks on the menu. We were there during the after-church rush, and while the two servers worked very, very hard at making sure everyone was taken care of, there really should have been three servers, but that is on management not on them. So service was slow but they were doing their best. I have to say the food was all really delicious. My husband's deep fried pork chop was fantastic, and the chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes (NOT instant) were tasty. The best, though, was the zucchini and yellow squash appetizer ... Very fresh and yummy.

Stopped in here for brunch right when they opened at 11. I started with the pick 3 appetizers with the fried pickles, poppers, and mushrooms. Everything tasted fresh but it all seemed too cold. I then got my entree, the philly cheesesteak and it was good but my fries were not warm either. I think they may have their fryer too low. As a last note, the place felt dirty for just opening. There was food crumbs all over the floor and on the dining chairs. For the waitress having nothing to do but serve us and look at her phone, she had plenty of time to pick up a broom.
