So it was my first time here with my friend and I wanted us to get a bite before I left to take my flight to head back to Colorado and when we got there we were sat down quickly. There was not a lot of people there so of course I imagine this would go by quickly I told the waitress Kim that I had to be out by 4 to catch my flight in which she said oh you have more than enough time, because I did. When my friend place her order for the wings, she mentioned the two sides that she wanted, however the waitress Kim stated that the sides would be extra and that only one side came with the wings before 2:00 p.m. However, that's not what the website stated. My friend then proceeded to ask to speak to a manager because what Kim was saying was not correlating what what was on their website. Kim brought a young girl to our table, which we knew was not the manager however she is the daughter of the owner. The young lady made it right and stated that she would honor the two sides based on what their website stated. At 3:03 our food still still did not come out, yet Kim said it would come out and that I had enough time to eat and check out. At 3:18 I asked him if she could just go ahead and give me the check as well as some go to boxes so that when my food comes out I could eat and put the rest in my to go box. A gentleman from the kitchen came out with my food and a to-go box and I asked him why was my food in a to-go box and he said to me that Kim told us you wanted us to put it in a to-go box and I said it to him I wanted to go box on the side but I still wanted my food in the plate. He said sorry and I told him it was okay because I was honestly already frustrated with the entire experience. My food came out in a go box 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️, but my friend's food was NOT in a to go box, bit she gave her a to box to go. I was confused as to how she got one right but the other wrong. Also our drinks came 20 minutes apart which I didn't understand, because we had the exact same drinks. We had the lemon 🍋 peach 🍑 lemonade, which was good. My friends sweet potato 🥔 fries were cold. My shrimp 🍤 and grits were not bad. They were good. My friends lemon wings were average. Her mac & cheese were okay. Kim was medicore in providing customer service. For a place that automatically includes 18% gratuity in your bill, it needs to upgrade their customer service. I would have tip more if my experience was better. This place has potential, however they need a professional to come im and train their staff. They need more staff, because they move entirely slow 🐌 when there was just a few people inside...
Read moreCame here for a Birthday Brunch. There were 3 staff to every table and the atmosphere felt congested with how many people there were standing around waiting for tables to need anything. The server while cordial, was far from welcoming and seemed to only be going through the motions. The wait staff don't seem to have a dress code of any kind as everyone was wearing crocs, some form of athleisure wear (all black), and there did not seem to be any standard of securing hair while carrying food, or going into the kitchen area. The drink menu is pretty diverse but all house bottles are pretty basic (example Evan Williams for house brown), and since it was freezing in the restaurant I chose tea instead.
The food was pretty good: I had the lamb chops- which were seasoned well but the teriyaki sauce threw me off a little on first bite. The eggs were scrambled hard as requested, and single slice of Texas toast was well buttered. I got a side of the creamy grits which were topped with butter and were pretty good on their own, but I can't say I'd get the larger portion in the martini glass. My mom had the chicken and waffles- the chicken had no flavor aside from the hot sauce that they gave her. The waffles were cold, and the syrup was colder still. The crust on the chicken was beautiful and even I just wish the chicken had more flavor. My dad had the French toast which he said was well balanced in cinnamon and vanilla and that they were not egg-y which was a plus. His syrup was at least room temperature but the little jugs of syrup are clearly reused because they were not quality sealed. Not sure if that's because they use a house syrup but it was pretty good on the French toast. Now we didn't have powered sugar or the fruits topping the toast but rather on the side and that can effect the texture.
The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was nice, from furniture to the level of the music being high enough to hear but low enough to still hold conversation. The location is a bit small so get there early as I could see the wait being rather long during peak times. Oh, and don't forget gratuity is built...
Read moreNew to the area and had seen the sign. I enjoy a good espresso drink and It'd be nice to have a local café to visit once COVID is less prevalent.
I stopped at the UPS store next door today and decided it'd be a great time to check the place out.
I was going to pop in for a quick drink to-go and a snack. The place looks well put together and the atmosphere seemed great. However I walked in and was not greeted in any way. I stood by the bar top for several minutes as one employee was on the phone hung up and walked right past me without acknowledging me. Two staff walking around the restaurant completing some tasks, but they walk by me enough and I tried to make enough eye contact that they should have also been able to at least acknowledge me. There were 4 people also behind the bar I was standing at with one person seeming to train 3 others. Nothing. No acknowledgement. I even think the manager (or BoH) or someone may have been around because I heard a man talking to one of the staff about having ordered something for the shop.
Honestly dumbfounded at how 8 people can completely ignore a customer like that. I don't know if I just didn't understand the set up or was doing something wrong, but I waited 3 or 4 minutes before just walking out.
I'll be back in the area later and intend to stop back in. Hopefully this isn't the norm. Would be a shame if it were.
Not a great way to build a customer base.
Edit: Went back this afternoon. Ended up dining in after looking at the menu while running other errands. Had the Jerk Chicken and Waffles. Great food. Was going to order a coffee drink (since that was why I originally had stopped by this morning) and apparently the espresso machine was new and they were still training staff on it.
Barry took care of me and was attentive and friendly.
Updated from original 2 star since food was great and service was good (on second visit).
Will give another try...
