After spending 2 days in a hospital with my daughter in a health crisis, I stopped to order at JJB. I got 10 jerk lemon pepper dried overcooked wings, 2" in length for $18.99. $2 each piece. SEE PHOTO. The box was opened and I saw a mound but did not know the extent of how bad this order was. I DID return to the restaraunt after I got to my car because I saw my receipt charged 18% gratuity , $6 on a take out. When I questioned the ladies at the register they said they always charge gratuity on take out! I ask for a manager and she said that was a mistake and gave mre a refund. Hmmmmm....
I was exhausted and still in a care giver mode, so I did not return the mini bird wings for 5 days. Call to speak to the manager and he said his customers do not like big wings. AND WHYdid I not bring them back. I explain, I couldn't because of the medical situation. He offer a redo, but I said if they are going to be the 2" sticks for $2 each and he said they were not that small. I told him I would come and bring them in.
When I got there, no it's "how do I know you brought them from here" WOW' and"you should have brought them earlier". Me explaining again why, and him saying his wings are that size, which I did not want. He knew those were his wings!. His bar patrons had input positive and negative. I told the owner I have been coming since they opened. Response.. i have never seen you before... so well then ok never again. I have been going there since it open and encouraged my neighbors to support them. No customer comittment, and charging for gratuity on take out must be their business model. Something has changed in the Wrong Direction or the manager at this location has. I EXPECT a resopnse to justify his actions, but we do have the right to express to a restaraunt their food or service does not meet a quality standard without them being defensive. See it as an opportunty to improve. I have the right to never go back and move to share my bad experience at Jamaican Jerk Biz with others in the Mableton community. Remember each 2" wing drumette was $2.00.. The 2 wings shown is$4.00š
NOTE:In response to the owners reality... His patrin at the bar offered to pay my bill. The owner said he would not refund. I told him I could pull the credit charges up on my phone, but he said he could only give me a new order. Ok, my question to him was, would I still get the 2" wings at $2 per piece. He said I would get the same wing. I said that was not what I wanted and he could refund not his bar customer. She came over to me and put a $20 in my hand and proceeded to take the bag of wings out of my hands. SHE INSISTED that they were her wings now. I said take your $20 back and I will keep the wings because he (the owner) should pay the refund. So yes there was a scene where a drinking customer stepped into my space and attempted to verbally and physically intervene. I did not feel safe at this point and another gentleman made her move away. The owner did nothing. This is unacceptable. The owner had a look of pure darkness in his eyes and I commented on how he could treat his customers this way and have such a cold dark stare. He did nothing, but this seems to be a common theme. Another customer encouraged me to take the power and write a review. So I did. I believe in supporting black business, but not bad business. No, I am not a hookah or bar customer, maybe that is why he said he never saw me come in, really! I went there for the meal. Everyone has their own sense of reality. Mine wants good customer service, quality product and safety in coming to a restaurant. So if providing good CS in not a goal for this establshment so be it. I DID Recommend to my neighbor, she went only to be witness to a fight the kitchen staff was having with the manager and plates were being broken and quite a violent situation with the police on the scence. I considered this a one off. But look at the other reviews and there is a consistent theme for me as well as how the owner responds. I am just 1 customer. The theme ..."Just...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAfter reading the reviews I felt very confident about visiting this restaurant for my Motherās Day dinner. We called and confirmed that we didnāt need reservations and kids were allowed.
Letās just say this was NOT what I expected for a nice sit down dinner.
The weather was lovely so we opted for out door seating. After settling in I couldnāt even lean back on the lounge chairs because of the cob webs in the fence.
Our waitress was very subpar. Which means she had limited knowledge about the food and drink selections aside from what was in the menu. For example asking her what alcohol came in what drink she had no idea.
Nevertheless we ordered jerk wings for an appetizer and the oxtails, brown stew chicken, jerk chicken, oxtail Rasta pasta and the mixed salad for our dinner.
My children ordered bottled sodas, my husband got a Guinness and I had an apple crown with pineapple and tonic water.
Their drinks came right away, and after about 30 minutes our food came out.
This is where I was floored!!!! She came out with to-go styrofoam boxes. At first I thought she thought we were leaving and didnāt understand us.
But no THEY DO NOT SERVE FOOD on PLATES!!! I couldnāt believe I was expected to put a to-go plate on my lap and eat from a box.
The waitress said that this was how food was served because itās a āloungeā.
I coulda sworn when I looked at the sign it said ārestaurant, bar, loungeā.
I also realized that our appetizer never came out. They then suggested the waitress never put it in and they can add it now if I wantedā¦.
At that point I said no. After realized I was choking on my food I realized my drink never came out.
When I asked and she bought it I had to laugh. The drink was literally served in a cup that looked like the ones you use for mouthwash.
The best thing I can say about this experience was the food was good. It was 8/10 as far as flavor.
Unfortunately because of everything I would never come back nor would I recommend it to anyone.
There was even a spliff on the floor by our table.
The last part that really boiled my blood was one of the staff coming out to sit by our table eating off a glass plate.
It literally felt like a bad joke. It gave off the āIām better than you vibeā.
At that point we asked for the check and left.
After spending $167 for some food and then including a gratuity charge I was even more pissed.
How are you charging me extra to serve food with lack luster service in styrofoam boxes.
Itās always the audacityā¦. But I guess thatās the only way they can guarantee a tip because they definitely couldnāt earn it.
I added pictures to show that Iām not exaggerating.
I also hope they also know itās illegal to pass your merchant service charges off to your customer. Or hide it behind a ācash priceā...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs a business owner, it takes a lot for me to write a bad review. I ALWAYS give grace and understand that sometimes people have bad days and things go wrong. However, today will be thee last day I allow this business to play in my face. I just got home and realized that I paid almost $40 for 7 plantains (not fully cooked) and oxtail pasta with 3 "oxtails" that were majority bone. The oxtails were mixed in so I didn't notice until I actually started mixing the pasta and separated them out. To top it off, the service made me feel like they felt as though they were doing me a favor by taking my order. I drove 30+ min to specifically come here and when I walked in the blonde haired cashier barely acknowledged me because she was engaged in a personal conversation with someone at the bar. When I asked about the menu, she put one down in front of me without ever saying anything or breaking her conversation. I was waiting while she talked to place my order and she turned to me and said "You can go ahead. I can multitask." When I was paying for my order, she gave me one total and another showed up on the screen. When I asked about it, she simply printed a receipt and slapped it down in front of me. The receipt gave a cash and non-cash price. During the process, a guy at the bar dropped his ice water which splashed my legs and sneakers and made me jump back. Someone came out to mop up the water and rather than wipe up the water and ice on the bar, the cashier proceeded to push it off the bar onto the floor to be mopped up, KNOWINGLY splashing more water on me. No acknowledgement, no apology, nothing.
Listen, I will literally pay whatever for good food and great service but charging a premium, treating people poorly, AND cutting corners is wild! If I felt like I would have been "heard" I would have called and addressed my concerns with management rather than leave a review but based on the other responses and the way I was treated today, I didn't get the impression that there would be any remedy or accountability.
*And to the point of other reviewers, while it's not illegal to charge a credit card surcharge, PRIOR to charging a customer, you are required to visibly disclose the fee, the dollar amount or percentage of the fee, and that the fee is for...
