when you think of great restaurants you definitely wouldn't think of Macomb, MI as being a spot for even one let alone 2 amazing ones. Regale says it's shareable, but the portions are huge and could be a meal in itself. drinks are on point and even though it is in a strip mall, the aesthetics are top notch.

So I’ll keep this as short and sweet as possiblešŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ˜¬but we waited to try Regale twice before posting here. Our first experience was so stellar that I just wanted to make sure about our excitement. Myself and the wife came here 2 weekends in a row, which was not planned! Two weekends prior, we had a rare date night(busy with a newborn etc.) and the lady researched a few unique places for us to try. Mind you, we live in Birch Run. So traveling over an hour for dinner seems a bit much, but this place seemed that it would be worth it. It was so worth the drive, we made reservations for the following weekend, that night, after our first visit… We chose Regale because of the unique and extremely diverse menu. You can’t label this establishment as one type of cuisine. And that’s what we loved about it. It was refreshing to see a menu with such variety and amazing offerings. Being someone who was in the industry for 20+ years, it’s difficult to get excited about going out… Guys, after making reservations here 2 weekends in a row, we are both nothing but impressed with this place! Yeah, its in a ā€œstrip mallā€. Yeah its a small restaurant. But they are absolutely killing it and showcasing something special, working with what they have. For now.. I see Regale going somewhere huge in the future. Best Ol’ Fashioned I’ve ever had! (That was my go to) The ol’ lady tried the B4 Mule and the Petoskey sonic and is hooked on both. But that Manghostarita! A must try! The food is what we cant stop talking about. Seriously. FLAVOR! Actual F’n FLAVOR! Chef Shawn knows what he’s doing more than most anyone out there! Bold, vibrant, unique and SEASONED flavors! It was so exciting for us to be excited with every bite of food! Not a bland morsel of food to be found. From the house-made potato chips and aioli served instead of the usual bread offering, to the stuffed piquillo peppers, the African Bobotie, the perfect burger and beyond, we cant wait to come back for our third dinner and try the rest of the menu! A big shout out to our server Courtney who took care of us both times and did an amazing job and also to Gedde, the GM who was so warm and welcoming, giving us some background of Regale and sharing his excitement of their endeavors. I wish I remembered the name of the young man that was cooking, and appears to be the head cook, the master, to carry out Chef’s envisioned masterpiece. But šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘ to him and everyone involved. Thank you all for making GOING OUT, amazing again!

Macomb County needs Regale. An unpretentious, TV-less, finer dining, small plate style, foodie and/or date night experience without the drive to Downtown Detroit. My partner and I have dined with Regale 3 times since September, and have tried (all but one) new dishes every time. The menu is diverse, interesting, surprisingly affordable, and rotating, making it easy to always try something new. The food is incredible, complex yet simple, flavorful, and fresh. Chef Shawn is as warm and friendly as he is talented. He is often seen on the floor introducing himself and making sure everyone’s experience is top notch. On Saturday, we had Courtney as our server who took time to answer all of our questions about the menu, and space out our dishes appropriately. We started with the Wild Mushroom Croquettes (our only repeat menu item because that hidden smoked gouda is everything!) as our appetizer, and moved on to the Wonton Tuna Tacos (talk about FRESH and delicate- I could eat a dozen of these on a warm summer day) and the Stuffed Piquilli Peppers (Tip: Order anything that Chef makes with short ribs. You are welcome.). Lastly, we paired the perfectly cooked and flavorful Charred Green Beans with the House-made (and pillowy soft) Gnocchi, which tasted like Fall in a bowl. We highly recommend Regale for the cuisine AND experience. The staff will be happy to guide you, but we have found that 2.5 plates per person to share is the perfect amount! The restaurant is intimate, so make a reservation. Enjoy!

I'm giving it high stars because the food was amazing. However, the manager was very rude. I called a couple weeks ahead of time and made a reservation for Friday December 1st for my birthday. The initial reservation was for 10 people, I called back a couple days later to add to the reservation and the manager said, please let us know in advance if you have cancellations because it's not cool if you have a table that you're not going to use. I told him I would do my best because I understood but I couldn't help it if the day of people didn't show up. Fast forward to the day of, as I was parking I had three people cancel. When I got in I notified the hostess that we may not need the second table because I was unsure of how many people were actually going to show up and they said that's fine we can hold it just in case. So myself and one other person sat down at the table and the manager came up and asked us if we were going to need the table and I said probably not and he said " it would have been nice to have a heads up". The other person in my party looked at him and said it would have been nice if her friends gave her advance notice instead of canceling last minute on her birthday. The manager just walked away. I felt that it was very rude and disrespectful when he said it to me on the phone and I was going to let it go and not leave a review but the fact that he came to my table and said it to my face for a second time, warranted a review. It by no means was full that night at any point in the 3 hours that me and my party stayed. I completely understand that they want to maximize the small space with as many people as they can, but it was very very rude to speak that way to me. He could have said it in a completely different way. Needless to say, I will not be returning based...

This was our first visit to Regāle, which was recommended to us by friends. We rate the restaurant 4 stars for food and service and three stars for atmosphere--3-1/2 stars overall.

After ordering two 9-ounce glasses of white wine, we each began our meal with a large cup of Nova Scotia Chowder, which was quite tasty but not served warm enough for our tastes. The chowder was followed by a complimentary serving of chips and dip--a nice touch. We then shared the Brie Strudel which was delicious. For entrees, which are meant to be shared, my wife chose the Baked Ratatouille while I ordered the Poutine. The ratatouille tasted wonderful, while the poutine was just so-so. Our server Robbie was friendly and attentive and ably assisted by two other servers.

The restaurant is quite small and crowded--and very loud. Not quite the atmosphere we were hoping for as we celebrated our 52nd anniversary. Our table was small and a bit wobbly. Our chairs slid around on the tile floor as if they had casters. From the moment we sat down, we felt overly-chilled from the ceiling fans blowing down on our necks. Although our table was small, we found ourselves having to literally shout at each other due to the noise in the room. On the positive side, the unisex restrooms were clean and, thankfully, warmer than the dining area.

Although there are a lot of interesting-looking food items on the menu that we would like to try, we probably won't be returning. The restaurant seems designed more for a younger crowd than us senior citizens and should do well given its unique...
