I could rave all day about the tacos al pastor. We were visiting from the Southwest where this is a common dish that we get frequently, but Los Charros beat every other version I've ever had. The meat had a wonderful char on it with rich flavors. The salsa it's served with had a nice bite to it (but if that's not your thing the chip salsa is a great substitute) and also comes with pico de gallo as well as rice/beans for sides. And the corn shells - must be made locally, just great.
Others in my party had the (1) taco salad which was deemed good but was given some side eye due to the shape of the shell (taco shaped rather than a bowl), and (2) a chicken chimi that was given a mixed review of outstanding chicken but the cheese sauce on the chimi kept the shell from being crisp.
We were there for lunch and it was an overcast day but they accommodated our request to eat outside despite not serving anyone else on the patio. So 10...
Read moreI returned here after several years. It used to be El Rancherito, which was a better restaurant. Interestingly, the menu is largely identical. The food is unspectacular -- neither bad, nor good. The decor, like most older Macomb restaurants, is outdated. The service was below average, bordering on lazy. I had to ask for salt. My water ran out without notice, even after the waiter came to my table while I had an empty water glass. I waited for long periods for needed service (like additional napkins), while the waiter sat near the host counter messing with his phone. We're not talking about some kid, either. This was a middle-aged man during the lunch hour, looking at his phone in a full restaurant where people needed service. I am generally more forgiving of service than I am of food. It is hard to be charitable under these...
Read more¡Ay, Dios mío! The food was excellente'! The service even better! Heber, my waiter, was straight out awesome at his job! He was waiting several tables and yet he had a delicious meal, that he recommended, on my table in no time at all! (Very important for a work lunch!) When I asked Heber what he recommended, he just smiled and said the Cheesesteak and that's what ordered! It was DELICIOUS! When you ask for someone's opinion on the food it can go two ways- one like the way Heber answered, with a smile. Or, a shrug and IDFK!! Do I look like a ^@^%# mind reader? 🤔 Lucky I got a good waiter!lol The restaurant is clean and, as busy as it was, pretty quiet with all the conversations in the background. Except the baby....someone get that baby a taco!!! 🤣...
