Girlfriend and I went for our 4 year anniversary of dating. Disappointed for how much it cost ($95 for 2 people, 1 appetizer, 2 entree, 1 dessert, no drinks).
Room got loud at times, but wasn't bad. Overall atmosphere besides that was nice.
Our waiter was kind and gave us time and space, just too much, we waited for quite some time before he checked up on dessert and our check. He boxed our leftovers which was very nice. I substituted a side dish on my meal that I did not receive. I saw he did ring it up on the ticket when we finally got it, but neither him or the kitchen caught it and said anything about it. To be fair, I didn't say anything about it myself, i know if i had said something, it would have been fixed.
The food was just overpriced and very bland or underwhelming. Perhaps a lack of passion in the cooking.
APPETIZER: Lump Crab Cake: no complaints. ENTREE: Szechuan Salmon and Trout Almondine. It was not bad, but not worth the $28+ price tag per entree. Szechuan sauce tasted like fast food Asian sauce, probably store bought, Salmon was tender and cooked properly, especially how thick it was. Trout was also very tender, even the skin was good, like the szechuan however, the almonds added nothing to it, if the almonds had been roasted it would have been much better. There was no caramelization in the fish or almonds. It was just trout with warm butter and almonds slapped on top of it. The "hericot verts" are green beans you can make at home, butter and salt, underwhelming. The whipped potatoes weren't bad. Overall it had no passion and care put into it. A home cooked meal is much more worth it if you are competent and skilled in the kitchen. DESSERT: Canoli Cream Cake, was bland to me, tasted store/pre-bought. The cream was "stale", not creamy at all. I'm personally not a fan of sponge cake, it tastes cheap to me but i knew that's what it was composed of...
Read moreWe chose Circa because we’ve always had a pleasant dinning experience, along with great food and service. Today, we were not as pleased- For the price point the service was under par, the waiter looked tired & unshaven, the food was bland and the salt & pepper shakers were clogged! My steak was over-cooked and the waiter never returned to our table to check if it was cooked as I ordered. The grand finale…. Drumrolllllll!!!! We ordered desert…. while we were enjoying our deserts and celebrating my friends 50th birthday (the waiter added a candle) the hostess asked us could we wrap things up because another party was waiting for the table. We had 6pm reservations, it was about 740ish.. the birthday girl ate her dessert I packed mine to go.. We hadn’t been there any longer than the table besides us or behind us and neither of those parties were asked to wrap up their dinner and there was an empty table in the patio as well… I could think of a variety of reasons why we were the only ones asked to leave, but I’ll just take my money & appetite elsewhere...
Read moreI had eaten here a few years ago for my birthday lunch with my mom. I enjoyed my meal and she did not, so I figured dinner here( for my birthday yet again) would seal the deal on my opinion. This restaurant has a fantastic ambiance, it's so elegant. I love the way the table was set, the bar...they even have a private dining area( which hosted a surprise birthday party this evening). Lots of LEOS out lol. Our server Dustin was wonderful, so attentive... he went above and beyond. Even wished me a Happy Birthday! I ate the ribeye steak with bacon wrapped scallops, mashed potatoes and asparagus(The special). I switched the ribeye for a NY strip. I enjoyed my meal but I felt my food was missing some seasoning. I found it a bit bland. My friend had some pasta dish but it was immensely bland. My other friend ate the Mahi Mahi and that was delicious. Dessert was WONDERFUL so was my drink. The restaurant was almost at full capacity, so it's quite popular. Elegant for Macon. I had a great time. My food left me wanting more. Perhaps I just need more...
