OK here's my review. First of all pulling into this restaurant it was clean on the outside. As me and my husband got out of the car there was another couple entering. We ordered and ate our food at the establishment. As we were sitting there, there was a steady flow of people coming and going. I ordered the large oxtail, with collard greens, rice and peas & fried plantains, beef patty. My husband ordered the curry chicken, rice & peas & cabbage. The oxtails were very tender & juicy, however, the gravy for me was a bit sweet. We are originally from Nebraska. The Nebraska beef is some of the best beef in the US. With that being said we are use to the whole oxtail. Not cut in half and not quartered or cut. Oxtails are expensive and I'm kinda spoiled and love good food so I like my whole Oxtails. The collard greens were a bit bland for me only because I cook mine with some sort of smoked meat. I'm not a big rice fan, however when I do eat rice, I like more meat with it. I could have used 1 more peace of oxtail with my dinner. I had way too much rice left over after I finished my oxtail. The beef patty crust was flakey the way I like it but it seems like more of a bean patty than beef. My husband Said he rated his meal about a 7 only because the bones from the chicken curry were broken. That's happening now when you buy chicken in the store they say it comes from the chickens receiving too much antibiotics. Overall this restaurant wasn't that bad, it's just a matter of each individuals taste buds. I...
Read moreWe recently moved from South FL to Macon. I wasn’t sure if I would find really good Jamaican food here since our previous neighborhis a Jamaican enclave with over a dozen restaurants in a 6 mile area.
I googled Jamaican restaurants near me and pick the one with the highest reviews. My husband, daughter and I jumped in the car starving. The parking lot was packed with cars and there was only one spot left in the overflow lot. The line was almost out the door but moved quickly.
I was greeted with a warm smile and excellent service. I explained it was our first time there so bear with me as she explained how they do things there. The people in line were also sweet. There was only 1 curry chicken patty left and the gentleman let us have it. We purchased him a drink to say thank you for his kindness. The cashier was so sweet, gave me a compliment on my smile and it made my night as I have been under the weather lately and don’t look as good as I would like.
If all the positives weren’t enough, the food was amazing! I got the 2 meat combo with oxtails and curry goat and a large jerk chicken with extra rice. We devoured everything and it was perfectly seasoned, not salty or oily. I’m so happy we drove the 12 min to have the best Jamaican food I’ve had in GA.
Thank you to the lovely staff and customers for the warm...
