Johnny's New York Style Pizza — Restaurant in Macon

My husband and I are here visiting and looking for that back home style pizza, (NYC) by way of reviews we found this place that stated was just that. Came in for dine in, was quickly greeted by a friendly waitress. We had the lunch special two slices of pepperoni pizza and ordered two side salads to accompany lunch. My husband, A garden salad which was fresh and good. My Caesar salad was good too, I did not like how they cut the Romain leaf Into very little pieces, which made it difficult to eat. I did however appreciate the fresh parm cheese added on the top.

Now as far as the pizza goes, well...I wouldn't consider that so much as authentic NY style pizza. The tomato base was bright and floral which is what we do use back home, however the pepperoni was lacking any real flavor and the crust was extremely thin, which gave the slice a droop and no real structure to hand feed. Thankfully the portion to ratio of all things combined to make up the pizza fit.

The floors of the restaurant could have used a sweeping in between guest as when I walked in stepped on a chunk of pizza that another guest had dropped. Among other trash scattered across the floor, I also noticed the amount of dust and grime collected on top of the security cameras in the corner of the walls and the focal wall by the cash register looked worn and dirty, like a cleaning and a fresh.coat of paint would help tremendously. The dipping dots ice cream bin could use a scrub down as well, from where I was sitting could see the mold built up around the rubber gasket on the lid. The ladies bathroom could also use a cleaning, the hand basin was dirty (hair and spit) and the toilet looked as though someone had urinated on the seat and had been uncleaned and left to dry.

Lunch all around did it's purpose and we left filled, however it just missed the mark for being authentic NY style pizza. The restaurant could use some attention by wait staff for sure to clean thru the day as guest...

So I was told not to come back and to leave after complaing that my pizza that I orderd for take out that had been added to our dine inn order had been sitting on top of the oven with my garlic knots for 15 mins. I had only asked my server how much longer my pizza was going to take after I saw people whom came in after I place my togo order getting there pizza. I had asked to speak to the manager and 2 people answered me, when I complained about it not being right that we had to sit there longer waiting while I watched for 15 mins several different employees look at the tick for my order and leave it there. In my mind I believed it was someone elses but when asking my server about the long wait for the pizza he went right back to the pizza that had been sitting for the 15 mins. The person who told me this stated he was the general manager Andrew Mathews. He told me he does not want my business and not to come to his store and the owner would tell me the same. I was not loud I was explaining that it is not right that we had to wait there and the pizza and knots were sitting there. He only said can't you see we are busy and I'm drenched in sweat. I understood they were busy that is why I patiently waited for it and asked our serve how much longer. We just found this restraunt and did not know it was there. We enjoyed it the first time so much we came back a second time in less than a week. We spent $55 the first time and and $ 50 the second time to me I think that is a good amount for a customer to spend in a week and potentially more each week. My mother and I go to lunch and dinner together often. But it's nice to know that my business is lost because you don't care about customers. Ordered pickup. Was told it would take thirty minutes. Arrived at restaurant 30 minutes after my call. Sat at bar next to register. Restaurant was 3/4 full. People before me were waited on. No problem. Then a lady came in to pick up her call in order as well, they immediately waited on her even though I had been there 10 minutes. still no one has tried to help me. Finally 15 minutes after I arrived I was helped and given a check which I paid with a gratuity. 15 minutes later, still no food. Finally the girl that waited on me, asked the other girl if my food was ready, I noticed the other girl went to the top of the pizza oven and got my pizza order and then realized they had to make two salads. Finally 35 minutes after I arrived, I got my food. I live 10 minutes away. Got home, pizza was cold and missing toppings. We ordered a build your own. We were missing 6 toppings from our pizza. We had added a lot on the pizza like we normally do. The salads were not made correctly. The Greek salad was only lettuce and black olives. Nothing else. The Mediterranean salad was missing two ingredients. My total order was 75.00 and some change for poor service, cold pizza, and salads that were missing Ingredients along with the pizza that was missing ingredients. Wouldn’t waste me time going to this place. The one in Warner Robins is much better.

Update: 10 26 22 The last 2 visits have been a HUGE difference. People working and fulfilling customer orders and the food was great! Service has been much improved. I am raising from a 1 star...
