Read reviews at different places to get some good sushi and this was top rated, and highly recommended by customers, so my sister and I decided to give it a try. No. We got there and stood at the front to wait to be seated. No one showed. Plenty waitresses walked by. Some more guests got behind us about a minute we got there. Waited. I kept looking around for a hostess. Then an elderly couple walked in, went around us to the left, and told a waitress there were people waiting. Then this girl comes from the bar room, on our right, and takes us to a seat. Got our drinks almost immediately, and I ordered an appetizer right after she dropped them off. She never acknowledged our table for a solid 10 minutes after she left. We closed our menus and stacked them in hopes she would see and come back. She eventually did, and I had a few questions and we ordered. About 10 minutes later, we get our salad. The typical salad with the purple cabbage and carrots and disgusting, watery, pink, dollar store worthy ginger dressing. Thought this was a Japanese place? 10 minutes later, got the miso soup. Little to no flavor. I'm used to it being a little thicker and with a little more salty flavor, so this tasted very diluted. Still waiting for appetizer. Sister got part of her meal, some kind of noodle side dish, and I'm still wondering - where in the world is our appetizer? I finally grabbed our waitress and asked where it was and she sounded aloof and said she'd check. I thought - she must have forgotten. We got shrimp tempura. It takes, what, a quick minute to cook? Much less 30 minutes? They weren't really busy. A minute later she comes back with it. The sauce was piping hot! Who serves that hot of tempura sauce?? The shrimp was super hot so I know she asked for it and waited for them to finish it so she could bring it straight out. We ate the shrimp and then my sister got her meal and I got my sushi. I asked for eel sauce - which I'm used to it being thick - this, too, was watery. What?? About 5 minutes later my other meal I was taking home came. I got more tempura sauce because it was good once it was cooled down to an acceptable temperature for my sushi. Then I needed a refill. A different waitress saw my empty cup and got me a refill and I took the opportunity to ask - do you have the yum yum sauce and teriyaki sauce (every restaurant I've been to automatically brings you one of each). She says yes. Which one did I want? I said both. Hoping to have something good salvage this meal with a good sauce. She brings it back and the yum yum was pale pink, and watery also. Tasted bitter. Teriyaki tasted old and salty and not a dark color, but more brown. I feel cheap ingredients were used here. I ate 4 pieces of sushi, and now I feel sick. I LOVE sushi and am so disappointed with how it tasted and is now sitting with me. We were getting pressed for time because we were already there for over a hour. We both finished up and we asked for boxes. Didn't bring us enough. We pulled our cards out and sat them on top of the boxes. She was no where to be found. The other waitress asked to take some plates and she asked if we were together or separate. And kept walking. We said separate as she walked away. Our waitress kept coming by our table to others and turning and walking away and ignoring us. My sister began to get vocal. We were now inching up on being there for 2 hours. She finally returned with our checks and my sister threw her card down and I opened my check - thank god I did because she gave me my sisters (I ordered more food). But it was still wrong. I gave her my card and said the appetizer needs to be on mine and she has my ticket, and I need a thing for my sushi. She comes back with our checks, I got my box, and we left. We were hoping to be in and out in a hour at least. Food was sub par. Service was below standards. Food came out waaaay late. Sauces were watery and old tasting and very cheap. You want good Japanese food?? Go to Tokyo in Conyers or Monroe. It's a drive, but if you're ever up that way - that place is...
Read moreThis was one of the worst experiences of my life. It was a coworkers birthday so I ordered 3 of the regular size, not lunch, hibachi meals for pick up at 12:40 via DoorDash because when I clicked online ordering that is where their website took me. I arrive at 12:32 and tell the girl I am there to pick up an online order and I am a bit early. She says their system is messed up with DoorDash so they don’t receive them, she would have to go to a manager and see what to do, of course things happen I don’t mind, she comes back saying the manager only can see it via her phone and that they just now put the order in and it’ll be ready “in no more than 20 minutes” I said okay I’m going to wait in the car because I have a cake that can’t melt, she said,” okay we have curbside, park there and I’ll bring it to you.” I said ok thanks and parked there. 40 minutes later, I call and she goes “oh ya they’re bagging it up now sorry for the wait” then my car starts shaking and overheating. I turn the car off, I’ve been waiting in the 100 degree curbside spot for 50 minutes now, and the car won’t start, it’s dead. I walk in because it’s hot and I need to tell them I can no longer leave and the original girl goes “oh I’ll go grab it”. I said well my car has died so I need to wait for a tow truck. Her and her coworker who was clearly the manager ignored me ever since that point. The original girl set the food down and I went to get the cake and set it down next to me, at this point the “manager” starts laughing and making fun of me to a customer. I get a call from the tow truck and try to tell the girls it’ll be 30 minutes, I stand at their counter for 5 minutes until I look over and see the “manager” laughing and texting on her computer. I took the food and waited in the middle area. Nobody said a word to me, nobody apologized except the girl who clearly couldn’t care less. The manager is an absolute disgrace this whole restaurant is an absolute disgrace actually. And this is not the point but again, we ordered the $20 entree each and this is what we got…. Not even everything that was supposed to come with it. Those employees are disgusting and lack basic human decency…. All in all I arrived at 12:32 pm and left at 2:10 pm after all the employees left, I was outside alone waiting...
Read moreThe food was good...What made me give a 2 instead of a 5 was the how the poor math skills the chef utilized when deciding how to divide the food. From left to right, there were 3 kids (approx. ages 6-9) and a toddler (no more than 3yrs... wasn't talking yet), the parents, and then my husband and myself... in that order. He started to the left giving the 4 kids, a spatula full of fried rice. He gave the parents 2 serving before giving my husband and I anything. I thought 2 portions would be given to the adults, but I immediately noticed there wouldn't be enough for my husband and I to get the same portions. He proceeded to give my husband and I one serving. The remaining was enough to give my husband and I close to a 1/2 serving to each of us, but that's not what happened. He then decided to split the remaining rice with the 3 kids AND THE TODDLER! Huh?! How did 2 adults end up with less than 3 elementary age kids and a toddler who didn't know how to talk yet?! Not good for a first experience for the infamous Shogun that I've heard so much about! All I'm saying is keep it fair! We spent well over $100 just for the two of us on 2 orders of sushi, appetizer, drink and 2 $30 entrees...but portions for the $30 entrees were less than what the kids received! Will we be going back?...
