I generally don't bother with reviews. If you're good? You're good! And anything I can say about it would be a drop in the proverbial bucket.
However, I am compelled, to make a review.
But before I lose many to a TLDR situation, the establishment was Clean, Quaint, and Comfortable, the owner was Helpful, Polite, and Prompt to serve, and the cupcakes ( all I have had to this point yet ) were Delightfully Flavorful ( great flavor and the whipped buttercream was wonderful, lite, and fluffy ), Small but Satisfying ( zero guilt to enjoy nor any feelings of having overindulged ), and ( in this economy ) Decently Priced to match.
Sometimes you're good. Sometimes? You're GREAT!
And sometimes, you're something that requires a story.
I was born overseas in Italy into a U.S. Army family. And I have many fond childhood memories of my time there. Being a "military brat" one grows up learning about loss and letting go when you Have To move every 3 - 5 years.
We're a tougher breed us military kids. And in so many ways, blessed by the life, soul, and mind broadening experiences that these travels bring.
I wasn't expecting alot. As a military kid we learn to avoid having expectations y'know?
But when my wife and I tried their wedding cake cupcake?
I was ( and the word fails to adequately convey the concept ) surprised.
For a precious moment I was a kid again in Vicenza, Italy. The rich, decadent, flavorful, and yet not heavy flavor of, not almond, but of an amaretto that I have so rarely ever tasted since my family moved away from Italy that last time in the early 1980's.
I am a 20+ year U.S. Army veteran/retiree myself now, in my 40's. And while I want to joke or tease the owner about how I did not appreciate being 'wrecked' by a small cupcake?
Honestly?
I will just say, "Thank You".
I don't know how you did it. But you did THIS "Right".
And for the rest of you? My wife and I ended up buying a dozen more about two hours later.
If ever y'all are around the shops on Ingleside? Step into the Dessert Shop and treat yourself. Were it not for us having to drop our dog off for grooming next door? I wouldn't have discovered this place.
I look forward to enjoying them more in the future with dog appointments to come. ( And just because when we...
