I've been holding off writing a review until I got over Oh Honey being shut down (still not over it but here we are.) I really wanted to give Village Coffee a fair try. First, they have the best baristas in town. The customer service is great. They definitely know how to do a matcha and Brian makes the best one ever. However, the food is mediocre, especially in the last few months. The pastries are good but if you were here for Oh Honey, you know that they're falling short. I usually get the burrito, even though they started cooking the beans in chicken broth.EDIT They've begun using mushroom bouillon instead. I gave it one more try today, and it was definitely cooked better this time than last, but there are some hard bits in the burrito and I can't figure out what they are. To be fair, I have a texture thing. The cinnamon rolls are good but this time it was barely warmed up, the icing hadn't even melted at all. I would have asked for it to be warmed up more but I was too hungry. It's kind of like the people in the back/owners aren't eating the food here so there's some gaps in quality. The vibe of the shop is still off. It doesn't feel friendly or welcoming. With all that said, I will still give them my patronage because the owners are local and good people, the baristas are amazing, and the matcha...
Read moreFound this cute little coffee shop while visiting my dad at the nearby Rehabilitation center. Has nice outside seating as well as plenty of inside seating. Lots of pastries and breakfast items to choose from. You are greeted with a friendly welcome to village coffee and a warm smile when you walk in. They explain the menu to you, give you suggestions, get to know you a little while your placing your order. I ordered the chocolate chip muffin (was huge), a chorizo burrito without the eggs (delicious) and it's a full size burrito. I got a salted caramel iced coffee (delicious). Food came out quickly, drink was brought to my table by the barista. After I was done... because they were not busy at the time, the barista came over and took my finished plate and offered me water or anything else. They heated up my muffin for me after I ate my burrito. They went above and beyond to make this experience special for me. I've already texted my sister and daughter to come here next time we're visiting my dad. This is my new weekend spot. Oh and they have kids books and board games...
Read moreMy fiancé and I decided to try this local coffee shop out and it was ok. We got a mocha late, a white mocha late, a sugar cookie, a monte crisco sandwich, and a breakfast casserole with bacon.
To start things off the coffee was alright. The mocha was definitely better than the white mocha. In the white mocha, I am unsure what syrup they use but it really was not good. Had a bad taste to it and I honestly did not finish it.
The monte crisco was pretty good and I definitely recommend trying that. Our breakfast casserole was not the best and even though we said with bacon there was no bacon at all so that was disappointing. The sugar cookie was really good and was soft so I recommend trying one of those.
Other than all this, it is a nice little cozy shop and the customer service was great. They do have a decent selection of coffee drink styles...
