We really like this place. The food is consistently good and the variety on their menu is impressive. It is a place that is mostly frequented by retirees by my observation, however there are plenty of customers from all age groups. There's not too much that's glamorous about this place, as it is definitely a "greasy spoon" type of diner, but sometimes that is exactly what a person needs in their life. Their menu is huge and you'll find some gems hidden in there so it's worth looking at in detail. We mainly go there for breakfast, but we went a couple of times for dinner and I got something that I've always enjoyed, but that I hardly ever see in restaurants. It was liver and onions, and they give you the option to have it served cooked with bacon. They give you a BIG plate of it and it's cooked perfectly. I know liver isn't a super popular dish, but I grew up eating it and I really enjoyed eating it here. Their breakfast food is great every time too with respectable portions. This place is a great local spot for whatever food is going to scratch your itch, however, the only reason I didn't give it 5 whole stars is the appearance of the place. At a glance a person might consider it kind of dirty at face value. When you look closer though it is actually very clean, but the whole place needs updated and refreshed. You can tell everything in the place was installed in the 90's and it's getting to be time for a face lift. There is a big difference between old and dirty vs old and clean. This place just needs to make it more obvious to the average customer that it is in fact older and clean. It could be that the reason they've not updated is because they don't charge enough money for their food. Everything on the vast expanse of a menu is priced in the range of extremely affordable. It's kind of rare to find a restaurant with such good food at such good prices. I would definitely recommend Family Kitchen for any...
Read moreRoad trip into Adrian with a friend and we heard good things about the family kitchen so we stopped in for early dinner around 4:00. No complaints with our waitress, friendly and nice. Food was terrible and lacked effort and flavor! With a name like Family Kitchen in my mind I thought it would be more like home cooked food, it was not. My club sandwich lacked mayo and flavor, it was like eating cardboard! Friend ordered spaghetti and the sauce tasted like they got it from a dollar tree! Garlic bread was nasty hoagie buns with butter and garlic powder, ummm what! It all was honestly very disappointing. I love supporting a good mom and pop business, unfortunately I feel like the food at a Leo's coney would taste like a gourmet meals compared to this place. Do better be better. * side note during our meal another waitress not our own came to our table and asked if she could borrow the parmesan cheese my friend was using for spaghetti, what were we supposed to say no?? so of course we said yes she never brought it back and my friend was still in the process of using it! very unprofessional what is there only one parmesan cheese in the...
Read moreWas at Family Kitchen yesterday. Got seated right away, long wait for our order. The waitress, Candi, finally came to take our order, with her mask around her neck. While we were waiting, a hostess burst into the front door, took menus off the desk, took a placemat and silverware off the table to the adjoining room to seat people. Her mask was not covering her nose, and she didn’t wash her hands. You can identify her by her congenital eye condition. When I pointed it out to Candi, she must have told her, because this hostess was two booths away mocking me to two customers. The man clearing tables had a mask on that did not cover his nose. He was handling the clean silverware. I am not asking for surgical cleanliness. At least sanitize the menus between customers or go to a paper menu. All I am asking is to wash your hands, and wear a mask. Great restaurant, good food, great staff. Just realize we are in the middle of a pandemic here, and follow the simple rules. Goodbye...
