A lot of people have been talking about Ninjaz Japanese Grill so we had to check it out. I did look at the menu online but it was confusing. Going to the store (in the back of a gas station) the drive thru had menu and looked inoperable so I went inside. The menu was pretty simple, salads, Hibachi Grill items, and sides. The sides were all listed as meats, so that was confusing, I didn't want a salad - so I went with Hibachi Grill. You choose a meat - I went with chicken, and it says all meals come with soup and mixed vegetables, noodles or rice (steamed or fried). I asked what was in the mixed vegetables, which were onion, broccoli, carrots, and zucchini (that's it).
They are not helpful at the counter in describing how to order or what you are ordering. After my vegetables question I ordered the chicken Hibachi and the only other question was did I want steamed or fried rice (I got fried). I asked about the soup and was told it was "chicken beef broth" (which sounded strange)". It took more than 20 minutes to get my order, there was only 1 cook and two people working the counter. It comes with the entire meal in the box and soup in a cup container.
Once I got home I tried the soup, and literally it had one green onion ring and one slice on onion in it, the rest was broth. Tasting it, it actually tasted like it was both beef and vegetable broth combined (gross). Seemed like a food service soup, nothing from scratch here at all.
I opened the meal box and saw noodles on the left and rice on the right, mixed grilled veggies at the bottom, and big chunks of chicken on top (way too big). In the bag I also got a big cup of "yum yum sauce". The yum yum sauce makes no sense at all because the entire meal is cooked in a teriyaki like sauce which is just fine on it's own. If you use the yum yum sauce it's like sauce on sauce on sauce. It's very strange that the mixed veggies are 4 kinds only - and none of them at all are asian vegetables.
This meal cost me $15.90 and I only found out upon getting home that she added rice to my order for an additional $3 (after asking me which rice I wanted). It was not clear noodles only came with the meal. For $12 though for a "Hibachi Grill" meal - definitely not worth it for the price. Even though the meal was grilled fresh to order, the end result is like any food court asian place or Panda Express. It's not bad food, it's asian (not very) fast food, but not what you think you would be getting for...
Read morePlaced a takeout order with my husband and 13 year old daughter, in person,, we were going to eat inside but there wasn't any A/C. I ordered 2 shrimp fried rice, 1 chicken hibachi and 1 water. I paid $34 and had a 25 minute wait to carry out. We left since it was so hot inside. When I came back my order was on the counter but only 2 entrées. I asked person working the counter about the 3rd entrée and she said I only ordered 1, but very clearly there were 3 in our party who ordered. I asked what I had just paid $34 for. She then read off all my charges which included a $3 upcharge for fried rice on both entrées one of which was listed as a a fried rice entrée. So shrimp fried rice is really $11 and chicken Hibachi that looked exactly the same as my shrimp fried rice was $15.
Apparently ordering shrimp fried rice doesn't automatically come as fried rice and you must pay $3 more to get the rice fried. Why advertise as a fried rice entree. The menu is misleading. No solution offered, just enjoy your meal. I'll update if the food is amazing and drives me back for a 2nd chance.
Update: The portion was small and we were not impressed with the taste. Everything tasted like greasy butter flavoring. For the same price I can have a real Hibachi experience. Also did not get the soups that were supposed to come with the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIncredible place! My personal favorite js the chicken fried rice, but I highly recommend the Shrimp Hibachi. The people are incredibly sweet here. For example, when I was confused on how to open the ramune drink they sell - the cashier walked through it with me! Even today when I rushed in right as they were about to close (they are closed from 2 to 330), they still took my order and the above mentioned cashier recognized me, too. I saw that they were cleaning, and felt bad...but they took my order anyway, so I made sure to tip. Please stop by here when you can, even if it's just passing through Adrian. The food is incredible, especially since they season every last bit of their main ingredients. I have never tasted better Asian food. Will be...
