I've never been to a Mr Hero until today. I've heard of this chain for years, but never lived close enough to one to order. This location opened a couple days ago in Mansfield and I wanted to try it out.
Overall, this was a great experience.
First off, the service. I pulled up to the drive thru and after a couple moments I could tell there was a struggle. The young lady trying to take the order from the vehicle in front of me was having a really tough time hearing. She had to ask the customer several times to repeat their order.
I just wanted to yell out the window to the customer ordering to use their outside voice. But the point of this story is the employee was patient, kind, and was entirely pleasant through the whole situation.
I pulled up to order and she was just as pleasant with me. You wouldn't even have known she had been dealing with a pain in the butt customer previously. She also spoke clearly and repeated my order and price back to me.
Yes, these are basics. But how many times have you ordered at a drive through and you can't understand the employee? Or they don't repeat your order back for confirmation? Or they don't give you a total for your order?
More often than not.
I got to the window after ordering and she was pleasant to speak to. She had a huge smile as well. It seemed as if she was actually enjoying her job.
Incredible first impression. I think her name was Anya. Sorry for I spelled that incorrectly. I believe it needs to be recognized when someone has such a positive attitude and personality.
And it didn't feel phony like it does at Chik-Fil-A.
I took my food home and was optimistic considering my first encounter with the young lady in the drive thru. And I wasn't disappointed
To be fair, this is not restaurant quality food. But I'm not expecting that. I will say though this is a step up from McDonald's, or BK, or T-Bell.
I ordered a Romanburger and potato wafflers. (Waffle fries.) The burger was seasoned well. Considering this is fast food, that I was not expecting. And the veggies were fresh. And it had just the right about of mayo on it.
The bread was really good. It might have been the best part of the sammich actually.
The waffle fries were tasty and cooked well. And they had salt on them. Everywhere I go and get waffle fries they always come without any salt on them and are bland as can possibly be. Not here. They salted them. Again, small thing. But it's important.
I will definitely be back. I want to try out a handful of things here. I'm not just a food junkie, but a major fast food junkie. I'm wondering if this can top my favorite fast food chains, Jack-In-The-Box and CookOut. We will see.
Solid food, quick to serve, and possibly the best customer service I've had at a fast food location. All for less than $10.
Edit: Came back for another round. Mostly positive.
The service at the drive thru was again, really good. I ordered a Nashville hot waffledoodle, loaded tots, and funnel cake fries.
The Nashville hot waffledoodle was surprisingly really good. I had low expectations, but there was good flavor on the chicken and the waffle was delish. I wish the chicken was a bit spicier is all.
The loaded tots were solid. Fried well and plenty of toppings. Very happy with them.
The funnel fries were a miss for me. They taste like a fast food dessert, and not the good type. These won't ever rival a frosty, blizzard, or cookies from Subway. Also, they only gave me five, the order is for seven. Not a huge deal, but disappointing all the same.
I will be back though. Several things on the menu that I still want to try.
Edit 2: Grabbed a late lunch here today. I ordered the regular size hot buttered cheesesteak and a BLTE waffledoodle. Overall, I'm happy with both sammiches, especially when I factor in the price.
I would say Penn Station has a much better cheesesteak. However, this is roughly half the price. I really like the bread they use a lot. I just wish it was toasted and they put more mushrooms on the sammich.
The waffledoodles are just great. You...
Read moreMy fries we're basically Raw the buns for my Subs werent toasted at all the food was half cold especially the waffle fries I will never come back to this restaurant again it sucks also I called to try to get the issue resolved and the manager was completely disrespectful and rude and said they could only replace the food but I was hungry so I ate the disgusting food because I don't feel like driving back up there and wasting my gas and costing me more money I paid $25 for food that was half cooked and the subs were skimpy there was only three pieces of steak on my steak and cheese subs. I will never return and I recommend that nobody visit this location for Poor customer service and undercooked food. The best part about this visit was the Cold 2 liter of Mountain Dew . Horrible visit as far as the food goes. Never...
Read moreSo they built this nice new building and had two drive through areas but only use one. I guess the staff just cannot handle any kind of rush at all. For years at the old location I used to get a Philly steak and cheese and have the mayonnaise grilled in but now at the new location the manager gives a giant lie that they cannot do that because it sticks to the grill. Yet they melt cheese on the grill from time to time. The saddest excuse from a manger I have ever been given. I ran several Great Steak and Potatoe locations. So I say this with on hand knowledge mayonnaise does not stick to a grill. The new Mr. Hero made up mind that I never need to eat there again. Sorry but I used to really like the food but your manager at this store is simply a lying joke...
