Chang Jiang — Restaurant in Madison

Moved here a few months ago, and was sad to hear from people's recommendations that there wasn't much good Americanized Chinese food around. People told me to avoid this chain, but I wanted to form my own opinion, alas I found the quality of the food wanting. I got crab rangoon, and the sesame chicken combo. The portion size was actually fairly decent for the price id say, but it doesn't mean much when the flavor has you not wanting to eat it. The main dish, the sesame chicken was actually really good, crunchy texture, and decent flavor, but that was it. The fried rice was soggy, and had little to no flavor, other than maybe a hint of soy sauce. the spring roll just had an really off flavor. The crab rangoon had a really bitter flavor, as apposed to the normal sweetness. I personally wouldn't recommend this place, but other reviews seem to really like it, so it might just be a personal preference. Its not the most expensive place in the world, but for the price I think id rather go to the Chinese buffet thats about as close by, atleast then you can sample a lot of items...

I've gone to the Gammon Road location for many years now and every time I do I ask myself why. There is no other Chinese food on the westside that delivers. That's why. The food is so so. Not great but I've had worse at other famous places in town , hint Imperial Palace. The service has always been BAD. The person that answers the phone never understands my order and I show up to pick it up they argue with me about what it was that I said. I obvisouly speak better English but they still want to argue about it. I only go here because of the location and when I'm feeling lazy and do not want to cook. Bad Chinese just...

Today 9/30/2020, I placed and received my 3rd order from Chang Jiang located on Gammon Rd, Madison, WI. My food arrived within the time frame set in the expectations for the order. The delivery driver was courteous enough to give me a call alerting me that my NO-contact order was waiting on the patio. And the food was prepared with the yummy-tasty precision I had come to expect from Chang Jiang chefs. The packaging is always good. This restaurant get a five star times two from this satisfied customer, and strongly recommend them as a great source of top quality food and service. Even their online ordering system...
