Dunno when it went downhill, this place was always a staple for me. One point I didn't come back for over a couple years and it was still the same when I did come back. Haven't been back again for a while as I live further away but I've been here a couple times since then and it's really gone downhill on food quality. It used to taste like things were more homemade, had flavor.
I just paid something like 10 bucks for 4 pancakes with strawberries. I get it, fruit is pricey, cool, gimme them strawberries. What I got instead of some soggy trash you buy in a can to make low quality pie filling with, coated in a thick film of disgusting strawberry syrup. Nothing about it tasted good. Pancakes were undercooked and still had raw batter in the middle.
Last time I was here I got frenchtoast and the egg coating wasn't even cooked all the way through so had runny french toast.
So with that said. It's unfortunate but for a place to serve food like that in Madison, throw a rock and it'll land in a parking lot of a place that makes better food for the same price. They aren't unique. I won't...
Read moreFOOD: Good food, basic breakfast stuff. I did enjoy their veggie Benedict (although honestly the spinach was a bit fishy) and the hash browns were tasty.
STAFF INTERACTIONS: We ordered 3 meals for takeaway over the phone. When I came to pick it up, I was barely directed on the status of my order (they didn't even ask my name) and after waiting for about 5 minutes, they told me the two bags that had been on the bar the entire time were for me.
CONFLICT RESOLUTION: One of the omelettes (all for vegetarians) came out with ham in it. I unfortunately work long long shifts at work and wasn't able to ring them during their business hours until 2 days after we'd ordered. At this point, over the phone, I was handed off between people, shown no concern, and was questioned on why I didn't call sooner or bring it back to the store. I was told it would be 'extremely hard to track that transaction' (which, as someone who's been in food service I do understand, but I also know that not everyone understands this and that customers need a compassionate explanation in order to feel heard on...
Read moreWe wanted a place for breakfast and thought with a name like Dairyland Family Restaurant that it must be good. The place was pretty dingy. My knife was dirty with chunks of stuff on it and her spoon had chunks on it. The bathroom was gross with the trash can overflowing and a nasty sink with a faucet that should have been replaced years ago. My bacon was burned, and the sausage was inedible, almost as if it was the cheapest they could buy. It didn't taste like pork whatsoever and I only ate 2 bites. She had tomatoes on her sandwich that were soggy as if they were weeks old. Our waitress was pretty unfriendly and never came back to ask how anything was. Beware that if you pay with a credit card, they soak you a 3% fee and nothing is mentioned on the menu or bill. You find this out when you pay at the counter. There is a small sign underneath the counter that mentions it. I can't recommend that anyone eat here. This place needs a...
