I’ve been to The Sett a couple of times since I’ve been a student at UW, but until today, have only really tried their burgers (which are decent enough). I honestly wish I hadn’t decided to branch out and try their boneless chicken wings with garlic parmesan sauce, because it was one of the most bizarre eating experiences I’ve had. The wings have the consistency of tofu and taste like the most subpar popcorn chicken. Not only this, but the sauce weirdly tastes like cream of mushroom soup, and has the same thickness. I’ve had better experiences eating Rhetas buffet-style sushi at 4pm than this. Besides the aforementioned chicken incident, I don’t have too many complains. The staff are wonderful, food gets done in a reasonable time, and most of their other food is pretty on par with the rest of the university restaurants. Just whatever you do, don’t get the chicken.

First time ordering here at Sett. Wasn't in the mood for a burger, so I went to try their new Buffalo Chicken Wrap. I'm glad to see they have a grilled option, as I cannot consume alcohol in any form (all their fried items are beer-battered). However, that does include their fries, hence why I got carrots and celery. The wrap itself was about decent. For some reason, I wasn't expecting a cold sandwich. As in, the sandwich came from the refrigerator to my plate. The fact that it took 15 minutes and it wasn't even hot is really interesting... It was alright, but I think I'll order a burger next time.

Nice ambience and service was ok. We sat here for a game and a beer. But from the environmental point of view, we are disappointed by the lack of real glasses. Only plastic glasses and plastic cutlery. Disappointing for a university bar. UW ought to be more environmentally aware.

The food is just dandy, but the service is more than lacking. I came during a time they should expect to be busy (during the final Badger basketball game). I understand how the industry works, and that not everything can happen instantaneously, but the wait was due to a lack of effort from the workers, not the system. I showed up at 7:38, and there were about 5 people in front of me and a solo cashier taking orders. The cashier, while he was trying his best, was working slowly, which is fine, but during a busy time it makes sense to have someone experience here. The entire time I was waiting in line there was one orange shirted worker standing in front of the tv and one more there a majority of the time. They were not only blatantly doing nothing (including not opening a second register to slim the line), but they were staring at the tv and cheering with each bucket the Badgers scored. By the time I got finished with my very simple order (a roasted chicken sandwich with vegies on the side, nothing else) the time was 7:56, the food arrived at 8:05; 27 minutes from arrival to departure and a majority of it was spent waiting in a reasonably short line. Moral: don't take a study break to get food from the SETT if you want to be back to studying...

I’m downgrading my previous rating of 4 stars to 3 because:

With revised menu, the Spicy Catfish sandwich (one of the best choices) and Bratwurst (now really, this is Wisconsin!) are no longer available.

The long standing issue of patrons being hit with a blast of cold air every time a door to the patio is opened when it’s not warm outside has been completely ignored. Making these Emergency Exits only during the late Fall, Winter, and early Spring is NOT something that is very expensive! I’m sure NOBODY likes being hit with a blast of cold air regardless of age, gender, status on campus, and other attributes. (This is Wisconsin,...
