After reading all of the fabulous reviews about this hotel, this one is just going to essentially repeat what you've already read, but that's okay, they deserve it.
First of all, while the hotel itself is very lovely, the most important aspect of our experience was the staff. My husband and I were checked in by Megan. She was downright amazing. We were discussing how she epitomized what customer service used to be: professional, friendly, accommodating. We really couldn't have been happier with her service at check-in, but then also during follow-up interactions. It so happened that both of us needed to work during this trip and, although the deluxe king has plenty of desk space, there is only one chair. I asked if we might get another one and Megan didn't skip a beat. Within moments, Aris from maintenance delivered another chair and a smile as big as Megan's.
This level of service continued during our stay while we received help from Rachel, Tally, Danicca, and several others at the front desk. We met Michael, the GM, who was very engaging and remembered our dog Kenji's name after just one meeting. Lily was wonderful in the restaurant, bringing Kenji a little bowl of water while we ate breakfast on the lovely patio.
We also happened to be at the hotel on a day when the hotel had their monthly staff birthday celebration event. A couple of staff spoke to us in passing while decorating and invited us to have cake later that day. I wish I had gotten their names, too – they were just as welcoming as everyone else. It was nice to be invited to the party, but even nicer to know that they have this type of event for their staff.
As far as the hotel, we found the rates to be low compared to similar accommodations. On top of the reasonable regular rate, we received a decent discount given the reason for our visit (hospitalization of our dog at the UW Vet School). The building is new and very clean. The rooms are nicely decorated. The beds are comfortable. A pool would have been amazing but the lack of one was far from a deal-breaker. The little store had everything one might want.
Clearly, I would recommend this hotel. I do hope that it’s just as nice a year from now as it was this time around. Thank you for...
Read moreGreat central location convenient to all that Madison has to offer! Something happened in the last year or two and I can't quite put my finger on it... It appears that the Hilton brand has taken an upward turn and dedicated itself to being / becoming a top notch provider of not only service but true hospitality. This was apparent in the cleanliness of their rooms, signage, and quality of ALL of their staff that I came into contact with.
I'm not sure what Emily's (front desk) plans are for the future, but if she has aspirations of becoming a manager or even GM of the hotel, I would not overlook this. In fact, I'd do ANYTHING I could to KEEP her around. She went above and beyond the call of duty during my stay. I had several requests for my dog who had just had surgery at nearby UW Madison, and on multiple occasions--without hesitation--Emily jumped at the opportunity to help me. She got me hot water for tea, fruit and butter to help give my dog his medications, looked up the hours of a local market to ensure they'd be open for me late at night, she even offered to bring these items up to my room since she could tell I was struggling a bit with the lack of an arm (using it to carry my dog at points who had leg amputation).
Beyond these offerings and gestures of good will, it is apparent that the nature of outstanding hospitality comes naturally to her. She is well beyond black & white 'service' and offers a level of hospitality--with true kindness and a smile--rarely seen in today's day and age. I cannot give her high enough praises. I only hope that Hilton will outwardly recognize her, give her a well deserved raise, and consider her for a higher position at some point soon--if that is aligned with her life's ambitions.
Thank you Emily from the bottom of my heart for all that you did, do, and are. Hilton--she is a keeper. And so are you. Oh, and your elevators...
Read moreMy husband and I have stayed in several hotels within the area for business/pleasure and the Hilton Garden Inn Madison Downtown was amazing. The location was in a very nice area and the view from our window was of the lake. The hotel offers a secure parking garage for a nominal fee. We were greeted at check-in by Mhayette. Mhayette had such a beautiful personality and really made us feel welcome. Mhayette, Chio, Michael and Elliott all went out of their way to make our stay feel like we were staying with family.
The hotel is brand new so the furnishings are beautiful! The bed was so comfortable and the hotel was very quiet so we slept extremely well. The shower has awesome water pressure and was hot from the moment we turned on the water. The towels are fluffy and very soft. The hotel has a large gym with excellent equipment. My husband was very thrilled with the 75 pound weights. The Hilton Garden Inn also has a cook to order breakfast, full bar and a very tasty bar menu. It was relaxing hanging out in the bar, watching TV and of course enjoying a cocktail.
Regardless, if you are staying one night for pleasure or 3 weeks for business the Hilton Garden Inn Madison Downtown is your home away from home!
Thank you for making our stay in...
