Subway — Restaurant in Madison

The days of the $5 footlong are more than just a footlong gone. Expect to drop about $14 per person at this location. The bathrooms are really gross to be honest, and seem like they never get fully clean on their best days. The food area was fully of low stocked items mixed with each other, so I ended up with ingredients I didn’t ask for in my sandwich and the person making the sandwich didn’t notice or maybe didn’t care. I get the vibe that employees don’t regularly change their gloves if they don’t regularly restock food items or clean the bathrooms, so it just feels gross eating this meal. The tables are also all needing to be cleaned and the floors are dirty, despite there being a slow moment...

This Subway near N Randall Engineering Hall is pretty good overall. The staff are friendly, attentive, and ready to prepare your order just the way you like it. There’s limited seating, but it works fine for a quick bite.

One thing to note — I ordered a tuna sub on flatbread, and it was served quite cold, including the tuna and salad. I'm not sure if that’s their standard or if I needed to specifically request it to be warmed up. So, if you prefer your subs warm like I do, make sure to ask when ordering.

Aside from that, it’s a convenient and reliable spot for a quick meal...

I probably visit this Subway one out of every two days in a year, and I enjoy it more than any Subway I've been to because (1) the kids who work there are great, (2) I get to listen to good music during the day, (3) large windows mean lots of daylight, and (4) the place has a character of its own despite being a franchise. Try to arrive before 11:45 am and after 1:15pm if you want prompt service during the school year, otherwise you'll spend some time...
