The 528 Tavern — Restaurant in Madison

After a day of fishing, we stopped in for dinner before heading home. It was kinda busy when we arrived so we sat ourselves. A few minutes later a server arrived, gave us all menus and proceeded to whisper the specials to us, I say whisper because out of the 3 of us, I was the only one who could hear her and that's because she was standing behind me. Anyway we all ordered, I ordered spicy bbq wings, the hubby ordered a burger and our son ordered medium wings with ranch and bbq sauce on the side and a basket of onion rings. Someone other than our server brought out our food. The wings were fresh out of the fryer and the spicy bbq was just that..spicy!!! We seldom seen our server again, my son had to go to the bar for a refill. The food was good but the service was just okay. I thought the prices were kinda wanky too as they charged my son 1.50 for a side of ranch and a 1.50 for a side of spicy bbq sauce. The bill had taxes on it, which is understandable but when we paid there was another fee added on...maybe for using a credit card?? I dunno...I think when one receives their bill, whatever the total is should be the total...not some new fee added on at the end...this was our 1st time there and...

I was into Tavern 528 on June 7, 2024. I was eating prime rib sitting next to some very nice people. When all of a sudden I started choking on a piece of prime rib was lodged in my throat to where I could not breathe from my mouth or my nose Once the couple next to me, realize that I was choking, they yelled in within minutes I had a group of people around me, trying to do the Heimlich maneuver they couldn’t maneuver to work then a gentleman out of nowhere that was a fellow patron at the time it was a paramedic and he punched me in the back to disengage the chunk of meat that was lodged in my throat. I did not get the gentleman’s name, but I want to send out a huge thank you Mira and Teresa both said I was a dark purple by the time everybody reacted so quickly so I want to send out a huge thank you to whoever that gentleman was, and if you are ever in Tavern 528 at the time that I am, I will buy you your dinner. Went to this restaurant Saturday September 24 at 6:00 pm. Found a seat for five and the table was dirty, waitress brought a wet towel and we cleaned table ourselves. About ten minutes later she came back and took our drink orders and brought our drinks to is in a timely manner. After 20 minutes she came back and took our food order. After 45 minutes I said to the group that we are not getting our dinners anytime soon as the had not brought out our soups or salads. After an hour we asked about our food and the waitress said we will have your soup and salads in about ten minutes. Another 15 minutes passed we paid for our drinks and left. Another couple seated close to us said they had been there since 5:30 and had not received their food or they couldn’t get drink refills.
