My wife and I first found this place in May of 2024 while trying to find somewhere in the area other than Starbucks to buy coffee - and let me tell you, we were so happy to have found this place. It was already fairly late in the day, so most of the delis and cafes were closed. We ended up chatting with the owner for a bit - such a lovely lady. We left with the monkey bread, croissants, and lattes. All were heavenly.
We recently revisited (March 2025) and we are so glad that this place is still around - it's worth a visit for the monkey bread alone, let alone the other baked goods. The almond croissant is a must try, as are the macarons (we tried the coffee and the lemon, and it was like having the real thing - the flavors were on point!). This time around we left with some Japanese bread, monkey bread, and a croissant - and four coffees....we polished off the first two while waiting in the store and had to order two more to go - it's that good :D
The Japanese bread was such a good find - a little more chewy than the Japanese bread sold at stores like HMart, but it's a very very very welcome chewiness which toasts amazingly well and takes to butter like they're meant for each other. The monkey bread does NOT disappoint. It's a hidden gem that is sweet with the crystalized sugar on the outside, perfectly fluffy and cinnamon-y on the inside. Pairs amazingly with a coffee - it's addicting.
Hoping the best for this place - truly a hidden gem.
Note: the owner will not make certain things if the ingredients (usually fruit) are out of season or subpar quality, which I find just absolutely amazing - not many business owners will make that decision, but I am so glad that she puts the quality of her products above everything else. Worth every...
Read moreBeautiful high quality bakery with lovely kind owner. Went in Sunday end of day, so wasn't expecting there to be much and was totally ok getting day old stuff considering the time. The owner was so nice and let me know which items were too old and I shouldn't buy, that never happens when I go to most bakeries. She really cares about quality of her products, you can feel a genuine love for what she does. She recommended the mango cake that she just finished. Which was seriously the best cake I have ever had. She said she just sourced really amazing organic mangos, and you can taste it. The vanilla bean in the frosting was a perfect balance to the mangos. It reminds me of this expensive mango cake I got in Japan made from their luxury fruit stand in Osaka. Normally I'm a chocolate person, and her chocolate cake was like a chocolate cloud, super tasty, close second to the mango cake. Everything was so light and fluffy and not too sweet. It was too easy to eat everything I bought in one sitting. The cream puffs were also impressive. She recommended I freeze for 30 mins then room temp 5 mins, since these were also just finsihed. The shell and cookie top was.perfectly crunchy and thin and the filling was like really good vanilla ice cream. Also got some brioche with extra butter and dinner rolls. Loved the soft spongey texture and buttery rich tastes, reminds me of what we made in French pastry school. Definitely want to go back earlier when everything is...
Read moreThis is my first visit and ordered croissants and cookies for library staff where I live. Since it was near the end of the day, they kindly offered me a free pastry so I had to ask for the almond croissant. It was flaky as a croissant should be, and had a sugary topping with almonds that came off in crispy bits, which I liked. It isn’t a more typical almond croissant with almonds paste (marzipan?) but it was really tasty. I was also given two free lemon macarons, which were heavenly. It had true lemon flavor for the interior. The croissants are well made and cost the same as places near where I live in upstate NY. So, it may be touch more expensive that what others may like but it's not out of the ordinary (considering the price of eggs!) and I’m committed to supporting small independent businesses. I also bought their shortbread-like cookies but didn’t have them, as they were for the library. They looked lovely and were the perfect size for tea. Look forward to...
