Before you read this review, I want you to know that this is not satire. As far fetched as may or may not seem, this is 100% true and I swear that there is no fabrication whatsoever.
NOTE: This is []BOOK 2[]. []BOOK 1[] and []BOOK 3[] take place at location in Chicago (Greek town). If you'd like to read my reviews in chronological order, please read []BOOK 1[] in the Chicago TBK page, come back here for []BOOK 2[], then back again to Chicago TBK for []BOOK 3[]. Thanks!
[]BOOK 2[] -Prologue- It's the first summer after college. Friends were made, hearts were broken, people had changed. I started joining group calls with my friends from High School at this time. I happened to tell the TBK story (BOOK 1) quite a bit. It became sort of a small joke, whenever it was late and someone was hungry, I'd suggest TBK. We'd never go as the location was 45 minutes away. However, one night this changed.
-Chapter 1- I'm out with some friends, it's getting late and we're getting hungry. I make the typical "lets get TBK joke". To my surprise, the group agrees. The usual Chicago TBK closes at 2 or 3 am, I can't remember. I do know though, it was too late to go there as it would close by the time we made it. Stumped, we discovered that the Des Planes TBK is 24 hours. I didn't know if I could expect the same TBK standard from this location, but we ended up going. After about an hour of driving, we make it. As we walk into the restaurant, I'm amazed by how much nicer it is. The TBK I know and love isn't very big, nor is it too nice. We order our food, it was fast. I order a Junior Burrito with chicken, I wanted to eat light. I was under the same skepticism as the first time I went to the Chicago TBK. Once the food it ready, we chow down. Immediately, I am amazed by how much better the quality is. My friends all seem to enjoy their meals as well.
-Epilogue- Honestly, this location was a very nice change from what I knew. I went in expecting to taint TBK given the love the Chicago location gave me, but my expectations were exceeded. This became our late night go-to location for the summer. I cannot give it anything less than a 5/5 stars. I look forward to...
Read moreFound this little hidden gem while out very late in Des Plains on a Monday. You hardly find any 24hr places anymore ever since covid but my wife and I were lucky to stumble upon this restaurant. It is very modern in decor which I did not expect for a 24hr taco joint. I was expecting a hole in the wall. Everything on the menu looked appetizing. Me, assuming that the tacos would be fairly small, ordered 6 tacos for myself and my wife ordered 3 plus some orchata. The woman at the counter was very friendly and the place is very clean. You can see the cooks prepare the tacos almost in front of you. When our order was finally ready I was floored. The tacos were huge! I knew right away I was not going to finish 6 tacos 🌮. I ordered the al pastor, the carne asada, and the carnitas with everything. At this establishment "everything" means lettuce, tomato, cheese, and cream. My wife had her tacos with just cilantro and onions which is more traditional. I believe the tortillas might be homemade but I'm not sure but both my wife and I commented on how good the tortillas were. Every taco was very delicious and with a lot of flavor. The orchata was also very good. This restaurant is located in an industrial area and I bet the people that work in those factories must be very happy with this place. I highly recommend Taco Burrito King the next time you're...
Read moreI've been here a couple times during the day and more than a few at night with friends. It's a good late night spot to grab food because it's 24/7. The service depends on the cashier you get. My experiences have been better with women than the men attenders. Mainly because every time I get a large horchata drink with no ice the men never fill it up all the way but the women do. It's like come on bro. 75% of the time that's all I get, horchata. When I approach the counter the cooks and cashier look at me with this "oh no" look and fake smile, lmao it's pretty hilarious. It's like relax guys, I'm just getting horchata. However for when I do get food, it's good, but not great. As far as Mexican food goes. When they put cheese on the tacos you know it's bad lmao. The tacos are good but I wouldn't get them with cheese, my personal preference. For burritos I usually get a junior burrito, they are better than the tacos. They come with beans, rice, meat of your choosing or veggie, tomatoes, cheese, and sour cream. Just know there's better locations that serve Mexican food, during the day. Lastly I wouldn't say it's too good to speak in Spanish too much in front of a customer that clearly doesn't understand. It doesn't bother me since I understand but I see it bothers others. Just be aware of your...
