My wife and I got the chance to visit the new Gyros factory in Des Plaines, I am literally neighbors with them, since I'm almost next door to them, I knew the previous owner from visiting the Gyro factory often, so, I was excited walked in the Gyros factory, thinking this is great, a place next door to eat at all the time again.
I ordered food to go and I was told it would be a 20-minute wait, while waiting, I looked at my receipt and noticed I was charged an extra 4 percent, I was not sure why, the receipt just said non-cash, we did pay with a debit card. I asked my wife, I thought they can only charge surcharge for credit cards not on debit cards. It was only like a dollar thirty, no big deal, I had 20 minutes to wait for the food, so we were just conversing, no big deal.
The big deal was when the food was ready, my wife asked him if credit card surcharges apply to debit cards as well. We were expecting a normal professional response. But instead, he got really upset and said he doesn't have time for this, told us to keep on stepping and rudely told us to get out. I am fine with leaving the restaurant, but I am really upset that he talked to us like we are shit, as I tried really hard to keep it professional and stayed mostly quiet.
As far as I know they are not allowed by law to charge 4 percent surcharge for debit cards, they are rude, and I will not be going back! Oh, and...
Read moreGyros factory does not value or respect their customers. We had a rude unpleasant experience by the owner.
At first, My husband and I were excited to visit the new Gyros factory in Des Plaines, yesterday, for the 1st time since it’s been under new management. How disappointed we were.
We ordered food to go and while waiting, we noticed on the receipt the math calculation was off. It only said non-cash and Total to be paid, as we paid by debit card. (I thought they can only charge a surcharge for credit cards, not debit cards. It was only by about $1.30, no big deal, We had 20 minutes to wait for the food, so we were just conversing, again no big deal. (I have attached my receipt)
The BIG DEAL was when the food was ready, I asked if credit card surcharges apply to debits cards, as well. We were expecting a normal professional response, but instead, he got upset and his RUDE response was, “It’s 4% actually, and I don’t have time for this, keep on stepping and rudely told us to get out”. I am fine with leaving the restaurant, but I am really upset that he talked to us like we are shit, as I tried really hard to keep it professional and stayed mostly quiet.
As far as I know they are not allowed by law to charge 4 percent surcharge for debit cards, they are rude, and we will not be going back!

Read moreI was in town for some family stuff and needed a bite. Was looking for carry out and this place caught my eye. Everything looks the same up in the 'Burbs, and I like giving money to local eateries anytime I can, so once i saw this place, i pulled in. Nice clean eating area with standard booths and a few high tops. Nice solid menu, nothing too fancy, just good standard fare (gyros, wraps, iti-beef, dogs, sausage) . I order the beef with pepps, and fries. Combo meal came with a drink. I grabbed it to go cause the dogs were in the car. My food was up by the time I got back from washing my hands, super fast, not that I didnt do a thorough job, I'd say a few minutes. Normal hand washing time. Geez, get off my back. Anyway, the fries were so hot I couldn't even get the traditional "cheat fry" on the way home, I had to wait! Sandwich was unbelievably good, bread was soft, perfect amount of jus saturation, perfect amount of tug. Great sandwich, great fries! Counter guy was great also, he was genuinely excited I was from out of town and chose his place, not gonna lie, it might have made the sandwich taste better knowing that the quality had nothing to do with the fact I was visiting because he didnt ask until I was walking out the door, food in hand. I will be back! Thanks for the great sandwich, keep up...
