4/6th 2nd review!
Listen up people. I visited a couple of times since Tru Bowl opened up in Mt Prospect this past week! The first visit, I had their Acai Bowl and later grabbed the OG smoothie in the evening.
Then Wednesday, Friday and again today (Sunday) I would have the EZ Acai Bowls after my workout. Then I bought Smoothies after work. I alternated between their Champ and OG. It has been a week. A week, and I am staying full longer and sorry if this is TMI,but I am cleaning out much better than before. Today, I did not need to start my day with Metamucil! I do not have the words to explain this but I am going to he hugging my manager tomorrow for telling me about this place! She was invited to their grand opening last week, I would have never ever ever thought I would feel such a damn good difference in me after one week! The menu was a bit overwhelming at first but the sweet lovely people there will help you to decide!!!
Just go!!! I go to the LA fitness nearby, and I am happy to have Tru Bowl a few steps down! The Acai bowl was delicious and extremely filling! I know it's the real deal because it doesn't taste fake or sweet like artificial flavors. I am currently on medication to loose weight, protein nutrition is important, this place caters to this. Menu has loads of options for juices, bowls and protein smoothies. I grabbed a medium bowl today and it was jam packed with deliciousness. The lady made my acai bowl look like I was at a resort on an Island somewhere! Highly recommend to folks who are trying to be on a healthy diet! Place is cute, loved the mural on the wall!...
Read moreI was hoping this would be like Nektar but it’s wildly sweeter. I’d say 2x as sweet and that is after I had asked for low sweetness. Cost is higher than Nektar but the diverse options are nice, the smoothie though was half melted by time I got it which was while waiting so I’d say it would benefit by adding more ice.
Additionally why I’m giving it a low rating is because I asked for nutrition information and for a “healthy” place, they didn’t provide it. The employees said they didn’t have it. Which isn’t a great sign.
If I were the owner I would differentiate from Nektar but having 4 standardized levels of sweetness on the menu (and DRASTICALLY lower the general sweetness), showing the calories and protein content, add more ice to the smoothies, and reduce the menu to save cost to distinct flavor profiles to differentiate.
Since it’s next door to a gym I’d focus on more protein, post workout and pre workout options.
It genuinely was too...
Read moreOk, so I am one of those people who don't usually write reviews and when I do it's when I've had a bad experience, but I had to write a positive review for Tru Bowl. I live a few minutes away and let me tell you it is dangerous that they opened where they did because I am there quite often. The flavor of the bases they have are amazing! I've tried the acai, mango, and ube and you can taste the freshness. I'm also not a fan of peanut butter, but in speaking with the Manager, Candace who btw is soooo nice she mentioned that their peanut butter is made in house so I tried their PB crumble and wow oh wow i'm obsessed! I also met the owner today and he too was so nice. My poor wallet (but my happy tastebuds) look forward to coming here over and over again! ...
