Ole' West Bean & Burger Malakoff — Restaurant in Malakoff

I watched as I waited for my food that sat on the counter to be delivered to our table the owner stand in the way of the waitress which was doing an excellent job moving around him. When the owner /boss decided to get out of the waitress' way he made his way to every table talking about how much people love his restaurant. I watched him seat people with no drinks or menus as he told the busy waitress to get the drinks The service and the food were excellent but the owner seemed to go around ruining my appetite with all the talk up about his business. I would recommend he stay home and let the business run itself. He has managed to run several people I know off. Id rather support a business that encourages their employees and supports the business community rather than a man that is worried about if he is charging for every glass of tea. I even hear him say a few times "stick it to them they can afford a few dollars." I understand he is running a business but the whole sense of his fake concern or interest ruins my appetite everytime. Food and waitresses should be giving a five star. The whole success of his business is being saved by the one or two...

When I first moved to Athens 3 months ago I was new to town and Google reviews were and still are my best friend.. I was driving to Corsicana one day and noticed this restaurant on the left side of the road.. I Googled the restaurant and thought I am hungry and the reviews are good so I am going to try it.. it was so good and the waitress was so nice.. I wish that her name would register in my brain but she is very sweet and has black curly hair always in a pony tail and wears glasses.. over the last few months I have driven back over there from Athens.. I am not saying the one in Athens isn't great because I have never been in there but it is worth the drive a few miles when the food is good and the service is even better.. keep up the excellent work Malakoff Ole' West Bean & Burger.. just a little FYI over the last few months word of mouth of the few people I have talked to say the Mabank location is the best but I will continue going to the one in Malakoff.. Good sized salad bar with good choices. Buffet lunch available on Fridays and Sundays. Excellent service. I had a bacon cheeseburger and hand cut fries (not frozen)and it was good. Oct.23, 2022 - Update to previous review. Went back today for Sunday buffet lunch & was not disappointed, again. There was plenty of choices & service was outstanding. Our server was a lady that I recognized from the (now closed ) B&B in Athens. Excellent service from not only her but also David ( owner? manager?) who was out on the floor the whole time, checking with customers & looking after the buffet table constantly. Our server was recognized by several customers as they came in & got a few hugs. David seemed to know several as well. The peach cobbler topped with ice cream was the perfect ending.
