My boyfriend introduced me to this place 8 years ago cause his family had been going there for about 15 years an we ordered there all the time . Last week got 2 subs delivered an the driver brought a slip with no sign line an we asked why it was different. The driver said no problem sign, so we did. At 9pm, hours later, i get a call being screamed at to come down there i stole. So, i walk down there so confused, in freezing cold. I walk in with people eating an i walk up to the counter an ask who called me. A tall guy that said he is the manager starts screaming at me about the slip infront of people an i start shaking and turn bright red. I said we paid over the phone like always check your system. When the driver came with that slip i questioned it an you can ask him. The driver was right there an he screamed at him in another language an then he slammed his fist on the counter. I said i don't want him fired. He said he doesnt speak English he didn't know. I said okay. No problem. You don't have to call me on the phone screaming to come down there like i stole when i come here all the time. He starts yelling i don't know if you paid you show me now on your phone you show me. I go its not my card its my bfs cant you look it up on your system? He screams she isn't working right now, the girl who answered the phone left at 9 then he punched the mini fridge behind the register then opened an slammed it shut an the other employees are telling him to stop pushing him an he picks up a kitchen utensil chucks it an is screaming an swearing an kicking things as he walks towards the back. I started crying infront of all the people there and all the employee's an said i have never been talked to like that in my life. I left so fast, worried he was following me I went to a store across the way still crying to be around people. Never ever has that happened to me an the money did come off my card. Thats how they treat a customer that has been going for 15 years? Worst is i got it delivered and that guy has my address! Anyone got recommendations on a new place? Our family will NEVER EVER GO...
Read moreDIRTIEST PLACE EVER! I WISH I COULD GIVE 0 STARS!!! The employees and OWNER are the most disrespectful and rudest people I have ever met!!!I wouldn’t go there unless you don’t care about being treated with hospitality and basic manners. These people don’t care about you and SHOW it!! THE OWNER GOT IN MY FRIENDS FACE AND SCREAMED AT HER for eating a snack she didn’t buy there! Not to mention the FILTHIEST rag on him that he wouldn’t keep his distance with!! He is CHILDISH and THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL MAN I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED!!! Other employees tried to INSULT my friend for even showing up there! My other friend asked him a simple question in a polite way and he screamed in her face TOO and tried to tell her to not come back!! The people working there now have RUINED the Big A and it’s good name! I feel bad for the previous owners who worked so hard to manage the place because now it is no longer a nice establishment in Malden:( They all need SERIOUS TRAINING ON HOSPITALITY and to just learn how to talk and approach people in general. They need to treat every person who walks through the door like a customer or that person NEVER WILL BE! They just lost a loyal customer who’s family had been going there for over 10 years...until I met the new owners. It ‘s just sad. Now their food is sloppy and no care goes into it. The tables are all dirty and chairs have food left on it. I sat down to lunch and got CHOCOLATE ON MY PANTS THAT WASN’T MINE!!!! The owner was very eager to yell at us but when they see us cleaning our own table not an ounce of movement from any staff to offer a rag or even to clean it themselves. I’ve gotten better service from an ice cream truck than this place. I honestly feel bad for anyone who has to go through the treatment that I received from them. I hope my review helps anyone to steer clear from this place because I honestly don’t even feel safe knowing they are still able to treat people with...
Read moreThis place used to be the best — not anymore. We hadn’t been in a while and decided to give it another try today. Big mistake.
I ordered the small chicken fingers for $14.99 and was shocked to find only four tiny pieces of chicken in the container. I honestly thought it was a mistake, so I called the store to ask if that price and portion were correct. A woman answered the phone, laughed at me, and said, “It’s because of inflation.” No apology, just sarcasm and attitude. Totally rude and unprofessional. Needless to say, my kid was still hungry after that sad excuse of a meal.
It only got worse from there. I ordered my usual go-to: the eggplant parm sub — something I’ve always loved from Big A. What I got this time was the most disgusting eggplant I’ve ever had. It was a soggy pile of slop, drenched in a weird, rancid-tasting sauce that had a strange bitter cinnamon flavor. Absolutely inedible.
So, I brought it back.
When I walked into the store, I saw a woman eating over the food prep counter while talking to me. Behind her, raw chicken was stacked dangerously high on the prep table — in a space that felt like 90 degrees — and a cook was not wearing gloves. I was genuinely concerned about food safety at that point.
The man I spoke with at the counter was polite and professional, and thankfully the woman who had laughed at me earlier changed her tone. They refunded me for the eggplant parm, but the damage was done.
What happened to this place?! Overpriced, poor quality, unsafe practices, and customer service that’s downright insulting. $77 including a $10 tip to feed a family of 5. We...
