Franny's — Restaurant in Malden

What a very strange and unfriendly place. Given the few good reviews I assume some people get good service, some don't, and why is anybody's guess. I got really grumpy service from the start from the dark haired waitress who seemed more interested in chewing on her own breakfast than doing her job. Giving an order where two items were to eat in and two to take away seemed too much to comprehend for her. When towards the end of my visit I was given the check, I noticed one of the to go items was missing off the check, and I asked for it, nicely, again, I got the stinky eye, muttering and head shaking. I was truly feeling threatened at that point.

The place is Godawful dirty. The stainless steel appliances are covered with a thick layer of grime and splashes of previous cooked substances - egg mixture? Sauces? Who knows?

Food actually tasted OK, I've had nicer breakfast in comparable establishments, and it was a bit yucky thinking that it was cooked on the dirty grill, but the attitude left me with a truly bitter taste in my mouth!

I've just moved into the area and was looking for a nice place to have breakfast. I'm never coming again and will share my experience with all my friends. I have no idea how this place survives, maybe they should put a 'regulars only' sign or something like that to let revently moved in residents and visitors that they're not welcome. Been coming here since I was a kid and decided to order pick up this morning. Had to call twice but worth it! Took less than 15 minutes which is great. It’s a small business so you gotta be patient…. Ordered a bacon egg + cheese and home fries. I haven’t been here in years but this sandwich hands down, best breakfast sandwich around. You have the option of grilled or toasted which I LOVE when places offer grilled, and the bacon was cooked to absolute perfection. Bagel grilled perfectly. Egg was cooked so good. Franny's is kind of a unique experience. The diner is on one side. There's a really cute old fashioned counter with small swivel stools that you can sit at and ice cream parlor tables. There's a large middle room with red leather like booths- that's my favorite place to sit because it's comfortable and there's rarely more than a couple other groups there, if that. And at the opposite side of the diner is a bar. The food is plain, but well made. Their home fries and french fries are especially delicious. It's a real, small neighborhood diner.
