Gorgeous space... There is plenty of seating, inside and out, unlike the surf taco in Point Pleasant where you practically have to fight a family of four to the death for a table, though not a lot of parking that I could see (so perhaps the death matches happen on the street and to the victors go the spacious sunlit tables). The food is always top notch, the best thing on the menu being, of course, the taco that bears the chain's name. The burrito of the same name is also good but we've found that the added rice and beans takes too much away from the flavor of that delicious golden battered cod. The blackened mahi mahi taco/burrito is good but it can't hold a candle to it's deep fried cousin. Stick with the surf taco. OR if you're hungry for a second morsel and want to broaden your horizons, often on the specials blackboard will be a mango shrimp taco (fyi it's coconut shrimp...it's ok if you drool a little) and while my husband found it a bit too sweet I thought it was a perfect balance. The staff were kind enough to provide us with larger containers for their salsa bar since we were taking a large order home with us and didn't want to fill twenty small plastic containers with their delightful salsa selections. The mild is my favorite (great flavor no burn) followed by the baha (slight burn and suble smokey Chipotle) while my husband prefers the hot (lots of burn with good flavor). Neither of us we're pleased with the Verde which was watery and not great flavor. Maybe it was an off batch that day. In conclusion while you may balk at the price ($5.50 for one taco seemed like a lot to me) they are large and filling and I was satisfied with two plus the complimentary tortilla chips. The burritos are the size of what you get at Chipotle, pushing the limits of what you can fit in a single flour tortilla. Next time perhaps we will adventure to other menu items like nachos or the buffalo calamari...but sometimes it's hard to try new things when what you have...
Read moreThe food was a 3/5 (average), but review falls down to a 2 due to service.
Food: the tacos were alright, a bit bland. The rice and beans were flavorless. The rice was dry and hard, not done well. The hot sauce lacked any kick.
I can say that I was satisfied in terms of portion size; the meal was sufficient. However in terms of flavor, I wasn’t satisfied. Not a bad, meal, but nothing special about it.
What I’m not happy about is that we went to the restaurant, (but understandably due to covid) weren’t allowed inside; we had to order online for pickup. When we placed our orders, the app told us the pickup was in 40 minutes. At that moment, a staff member came outside to deliver someone else’s food. We asked how accurate the 40 minute wait was, and whether we should go do something else, or if the food would be ready quicker and if we should just wait. The employee told us the food will be out in 5-10 minutes and we should jut wait. Unfortunately the food actually took 40 minutes to prepare. I’m not mad the food took 40 minutes to prepare, I can understand it. I’m upset that the employee told us 5-10 minutes which...
Read moreI wish I would have read the reviews first before coming here. If I could give zero stars , I would. Girl at the front looks dead...shows no emotion except her bad attitude. Even after her watching me give tip, she couldn't even say thank you. The other ppl at the front were on their phones and our table and benches were dirty. Super long wait for food for no reason...there were hardly any people in there. I asked the girl who brought my food for a fork, and she told me they were up at the front. Um excuse me, why did I even tip? Two ppl didn't eat their food at all. My beans and rice were bland and tortilla chips were stale. Only good thing was our bottled water. About to go throw up now. Also overheard the table next to us send back their food. I guess we weren't the only ones who thought this place is trash. Find yourself somewhere else to eat. Also to 'Brad' and 'Chad 'who respond to the reviews, pls don't bother writing a basic- 'We do our best to serve good quality food...and hope to give us another chance'. Nobody is giving you a second...
