Revisiting: The Black Sheep Restaurant- August 1st, 2025
We decided to come back here to celebrate a birthday. This time we came for dinner, which was our first time trying from the previous time that we did visit. The atmosphere was still good; I loved the night life setting with lamps, wall decorations, etc. Drinks were great! I enjoyed my old fashioned...boy can they make a good one. We ordered the wings again. Half Garlic and half Bourbon flavored..they were certainly as good as last time no doubt about it! Next we ordered the Southwest Egg rolls. Even the "Pickiest" eaters could enjoy them. The egg rolls were crispy and the filling inside of the egg rolls were so delicious and flavorful. Now the entrees. I didn't see anything I remotely wanted on the entree menu, so I decided to try a "daily special". I got the squid "ink" pasta with fried crab on top. Took one single bite of the pasta and it was an "immediate" no. The crab wasn't good either. It's kind of the same issue with this restaurant. The appetizers are great, but the entrees and the menu could use some major work. If I come back here in the future, I know what to order and it won't be an entree.

This place had some highs and lows all together. We got there for Brunch and even though we had a reservation, we still had to wait an additional 20 mins to get our table ready which was weird on its own. As far as the food goes, the wings were really good! "The Garlic Honey wings" were my favorite between the "bourbon wings". I still encourage everyone to try both for their own preferences. My fiancee enjoyed the "sticky bun", while I was digging inside my omelette. While eating the "Chorizo Omelette" I quickly realized how many better omelettes I've had. Nothing worth talking about, as not enough meat inside the filling. Home fries were better than the omelette! "Parmesan Grits" were terrible! They were the driest grits I ever had in my life. I had to ask my waiter to take it back! There were flies and gnats flying around the entire time we were eating which was high-key annoying. Old-fashioned was good! Overall the establishment was decent. Will I be back? Maybe, Maybe not.

Read moreWe had 7:15 reservations on 10/24/23. We should have eaten at the bar. The gentlemen working at that time were very attentive and even checked on our reservation a few times for us. Our reservation was 15+ minutes late. Hence the 2 stars for service.
We could hardly understand our wait person because they spoke so quietly for a busy restaurant. A few times we had to ask them to repeat themselves.
We ordered the tuna the mussels pot. The tuna was delicious. I usually don't eat more than a few slices because I'm picky about raw fish, but I ate half the plate. The mussels were a disappointment because about half the shells were empty. And no, they weren't swimming in the bottom of the pot.
And then we waited. Longer than I felt we should have waited. I'm convinced that's why our reservation was late.
Finally the wait person returned to take our dinner order. We had to ask for the specials. They were out of one of them which I was looking forward to, but it happens I guess. I ordered the 7oz filet medium-rare and he ordered the salmon also medium-rare. Neither of which were medium rare. Mine was more rare and not very hot when it arrived.
And they ran out of mashed potatoes that came with my meal so I had to chose another one. The fingerling potatoes were delicious and they gave me the mashed cauliflower which was also delicious. The green beans were smoky and irresistible! His salmon was okay, but he's always picky about fish at restaurants.
And then we waited. We ran out of champagne and no one checked to see if wanted something else to drink. They didn't remove the empty bottle and bucket until we left the table. Again, hence the 2 star for service.
We ordered Irish coffee and the carrot cake. She brought ice coffee. It tasted like the oldest coffee on the planet. But we corrected and said we asked for Irish coffee. It still tasted horrible Undrinkable horrible. I even tried sugar. Still just like drinking tar.
They brought a delicious square of bread pudding. I didn't see that on the menu. It was a Happy Anniversary dessert that was a pleasant surprise. We devoured the whole slice and probably would order it again! The carrot cake was delicious! We took all but 2 bites home to eat later because of the bread pudding.
When we received the check I was surprised to find they didn't charge us for the mussels, the coffees, or the cake. I would go back but I would...
Read moreExcellent ambience and super service. Gaby was fantastic! We were celebrating Mother's Day with our daughter's family and will be back with our son's family too. UPDATE: I HAVE VISITED THIS PLACE WITH FONDNESS UNTIL YESTERDAY INCLUDING HAVING MY t e sa(WHEN BRENTSVILLE HALL JUST OPENED) 2 me name ago. I purchased 2 Mother's Day Brunch tickets at $110 each and received confirmation for such at Brentsville Hall for 5/12/2024. We arrived a little earlier than 12:30pm and waited until the doors were opened for us. We approached the host as the 3rd party to enter but host said our name was not in his list after going through it twice. I spelled my name to him once and my wife spelled it the 2nd time (we have almost the same name as the owners). The host asked me if it was for the restaurant and I pulled out my confirmation text messages including the previous day. He then said for us to stay until he gets everyone in and he might have an extra table where he can seat us. I informed him that my money has been taken too. He suggested that we wait until all are inside and he will come and get us. We were so embarrassed in front of all the people there. I then called and spoke to a manager at The Black Sheep who said that I need to talk to the host at the Brentsville Hall and that he cannot do anything. I checked my credit card company and saw the charge that I saw when I made the reservation still there as the manager vehemently said they do not charge earlier. Management's lack of knowledge on the procedure. While we were waiting and the host made no attempt to find us the seating, a gentleman asked the host if there was anyone not checked in after all were seated 10-15 mins ago. The host read out 3 names from the same list he had before and one of those was my name....the same name we spelled twice before and he said was not on the list. I was about to leave with a huge bitterness about this restaurant and it's staff and thinking of demanding a refund and not to mention with a dishonored and humiliated mother, and loss of paid money due to the lack of education of your host. Feeling ashamed of having had our daughter's wedding (handled by Helen so beautifully). Villargio needs to hire staff who can Read English adequately and follow through what they promised their guests. Sadly, we no longer want to patronize to your other wise fine...
