Jersey Mike's Subs — Restaurant in Manchester Township

First as another customer commented -DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY! Did the Manchester Board of Health inspect after it opened? Food should not be thrown on floor, gloves, and machine slicing meats and cheeses are not supposed to be the same blade. Whatever happened to hair nets to keep the hair out of the food? Putting a baseball cap over long hair that sticks out by ears and along the back, especially the young lady who was the grill person with very long hair flying all over does not lend itself to a clean food establishment. Who taught this young staff you clean a working food counter by taking a rag, many times used and push everything on the floor? Bread crumbs, pieces of meat, cheese, lettuce and worse of all, dirty gloves thrown on the floor! And they do not take to criticism about this kindly at that store. Enough on that topic.

We are long-time satisfied customers of Jersey Mike's in Bayville and Pt. Pleasant NJ. We live near the new store by Stop & Shop Whiting so we thought we would try it – first time very bad, onions on cheese steak burned, sloppy put together, paper not wrapped correctly, sandwich not cut. Ok new and they have to learn. Foolishly left a 20% tip in cash.

Tried again about a month later -even worse – young woman “in charge” at register took order and cut meat / cheese on same machine – throws leftover on floor with rag. Orders were for cheese steak again – she wrote it down on pad. 45 minutes later I finally walked out with my order. There was no one there when I walked in (albeit they do take app and phone orders). Later more customers came in. I asked the woman to make sure onions no overcooked this time as they were burnt last time and she was nasty and mumbled something back. Not a person who can handle busy store and customers. She is slooppy looking and also slicing meat and cheese for heros without cleaning machine in between. No paper down on counter - rolls put down right on counter just wiped with dirty rag.

The young lady long blonde hair with a hat on doing the grill - hair so long flying all over. Two other employees working, Still wiping counter by throwing everything on floor with a rag and then start a new sandwich! Some changing of plastic gloves – but if you are wearing gloves to handle money, etc. and don’t change when you are handing the sandwich, food – yuk .

I had lots of time to observe the going on that night - I sat there for 45 minutes as my order was cooked wrong. I made them open the sandwiches before I would take them – although again, paid for them plus tip. Big mistake to leave tip! One had peppers did not want and the other one was cold. The grill girl apologized and recooked the sandwiches the other girl was mad I wanted the one recooked that was not wrong because it was now cold.

One man waiting with me and his order he phoned in had been done but was sitting on the back counter. The young man at the register, friendly, didn’t know where to look for the sandwiches that were ready for pick up from phone order. He was struggling to open coins to put in the register. Since I had lots of time on my hands, I showed him how to quickly open a roll of coins by hitting gently the edge rather than trying to peel the paper off the roll as he was. The store needs people friendly workers who at minimum know about sanitation and how to write down an order correctly and be able to cook more than one order at a time and get them right.

Shame on Jersey Mikes - this location is NOT up to the other ones I have been to over the last few years. Will never go back and let my friends know – dirty! Good luck to them and I hope they get...

Line was long yet the service was expedient. Let me clarify- I worked at 2 Jersey Mike’s I know the difference between the good locations and the bad ones. This is a stellar location as far as service goes. Everyone was friendly, not just to the customers but to their teammates also. They went above & beyond, I ordered an item that is no longer on the menu, it was the grilled veggie wrap (there are plenty of of veggie items on the menu, just not the grilled one) but they knew exactly what I wanted, they are knowledgeable about the food they serve & made me the grilled veggie wrap without hesitation. Now of course you could order that anyway - but it was much easier for me because they already knew what wrap I was talking about! Additionally they have online ordering available** Thanks so much! I thought Jersey Mike's was supposed to be the place to get a good sub. We ordered tonight. My first error was calling in I guess. I went over the order. I order my hubby's sub - #13 giant- lettuce and banana peppers mayo oil vinegar My sub #13 Mike's Way add extra juice and pickles Our son's sub - buffalo chicken cheesesteak giant no tomatoes Well. Hubs gets home. No buffalo chicken cheesesteak at all - so I call. The girl apologized and even said "no tomatoes right?" Hubby drive all the way back. They hand him half the sandwich. He asks "Where's the rest?" So now he needs to wait longer for them to make the other half of the sandwich. So hubby gets back. His sub is wrong! No banana peppers and they added tomatoes and onions plus my extra juice is on his and has now soaked his sub. No Bueno Jersey...
