La Carreta — Restaurant in Manchester

Very busy on Saturday nights. I was on a list for over a half hour. Text was sent 📤 to me when my table was ready. Friendly service. Menus are available online. Coupons may be available in the Hippo newspaper. I ordered Alitas, fried chicken wings, for an appetizer. My sinuses paid for it! I had Ranchero Chef's Special, steak 🥩 with grilled peppers, tomatoes, onions and your choice of fajitas and chicken enchilada. Dessert was Flan was the right amount without overfilling your stomach. My unsweetened ice tea was refilled without asking. All of my food was good, though the steak 🥩 had a bit to much fat. Salsa and nachos were offered as an appetizer. I had leftovers and it made a good lunch and dinner. Wifi available. Parking lot can fill up fast. May want to call ahead on weekends. I recommend a visit. Update: Saturday afternoon, February 2021; I had the Speedy Gonzales with chicken 🐔, a taco 🌮 with an enchilada and Mexican rice. F Service was great 👍! Only issue, the taco 🌮 tasted okay but lacked in filling. It needed tomatoes and a little sour cream. Cheese 🧀 and lettuce 🥬 was just thrown in. Update: March -May 2021; Great service, good food. I had the Lunch Special#12 with a chicken 🐔 taco 🌮. Everything tasted good 😋, but, the taco 🌮 was lacking. I had a burrito and enchilada or two of the same item. Special Lunch #9, tamale and burrito with rice 🌾,and it was good. Special Lunch #8. Burrito, tostada and Mexican rice 🌾. Yum 😋! Update: January 2022; Special Lunch #10, Enchilada, tostada and cheese 🧀 quesadilla. Very 👍 good. Special Lunch #3, Enchilada, taco 🌮, rice and refried beans. Taco needs more but the rest was good 👍! Incredibly frustrated. I have been going here regularly for YEARS. I have a severe gluten allergy and always order the chicken tacos on corn tortillas and tell them I have an allergy. Wednesday night, I went in and specifically told them I had a severe allergy and could they please make note with the cook. They assured me I was all set. They brought me my tacos and I ordered a glass of wine, i picked up the taco and started eating. Halfway through I realized it didn’t taste right, I asked if they were sure it was GF and another waiter said “ no; that’s flour.” I started to get very nervous and said “ I need to go right now I’m going to need to get to the ER right away I’m going to have a reaction.” At which point, the man said “ okay hold on, let me get your check.” Then he started making someone else’s drink. A woman looked at him and said “ you need to get her check NOW she has to go to the ER. At which point he gave me the check which charged me for the half glass of wine id had. I take full responsibility for the fact that going out to eat is my risk, what bothered me so much was his lack of any sort of concern when I told him what had happened. And then to still charge me when I had just told him my life was in danger, made me furious. I sent emails asking the manager to call me and have heard nothing. I will no longer be going out to eat because I’ve learned my lesson, but if anyone else has an allergy please be cautious and aware going to this restaurant. They obviously don’t...

Never thought I'd be giving LA Carreta a bad review but it's definitely really passed due. We've been very regular customers for years, which is why I'm being generous and giving 2 stars. I don't dine in anymore because the service is so awful. I'm a server, and I have never believed in tip-sharing amongst servers because this is what happens. Dine in and expect to see your server ONCE, while he takes your order, and ONLY ONE MORE TIME to bring your drink (only 1,because you're not going to see him again if you need a refill) Once your food arrives, it WILL be missing items, but the person dropping off your food is only a food runner, you will look for your server to ask for the rest of your food, but the server will be too busy talking to the other servers while they all ignore you. Then be prepared to cause a scene when you need your check or God forbid a box, because there won't be a server around anywhere so you'll have to stop the first employee who walks by. That being said, Sit in the bar if you want any attention. Now I only get take out because being a server myself, it's too much stress to see such consistently terrible service. The last 10 orders have been disappointing as is the service when dinning in. Items constantly missing, orders incorrect, and half the orders have been burnt or completely cold.
