When it first opened we went to check it out. Nice to have another full service restaurant. The service was marginal, the food was merely adequate. The noise was a lot! So we waited several months to let them "get their footings", so to speak, since those first weeks after opening can be rough. We hoped things would get better. They didn't. Went back over to the restaurant last night. Food was pretty mundane, servers and other staff looked like they'd been pulled from the streets (unkempt, untidy). We always give a restaurant at least a couple tries to see if they improve. Two times was enough to know we won't be going there again by choice. Mundane, ordinary, loud, food looked like it was just slopped onto the plate. Prices were about as expected. Would not recommend in this town. Go across the Missouri to Bismarck and have many more dining options. I wonder how this Bennigan's stacks up to others?? We cannot attest to the bar service since we didn't utilize that area. Maybe they'd get better marks for drinks & service in the bar area. If I could give NO stars, I would. Personally I believe people who give this restaurant higher marks, are doing so because they've never been to a really nice restaurant and experienced excellent food and service. And one last thing: Don't respond and tell me to contact the local manager! That is YOUR job as upper management of this franchise business. Someone needs to get this place going on better footing or it's going to go under in a very short amount of time. The only way it'll continue to keep going is because there's very little choice in Mandan for restaurants. UPDATE: Went a 3rd time cuz friends wanted to meet us there. Ugh! Same story. Poor food. Well we did not go to the grand opening because we thought it would be too busy and after that we saw the following days with a lot of people until we did not wait any longer and we went. We arrive take us to the table they bring us the drinks and the time passes and our food does not arrive I see the waitresses from one place to another attending people, the people eat and even eat their dessert and we even there waiting for good after 45 minutes We decided to get up and in that we see the manager and we tell him that we are going to cancel the order since we have been around for an hour and we had not eaten yet, the very attentive and kind maneger would wait for a minute to what the state of the order. Come back after a few minutes tell us the food is coming right now for excuse us and enjoy the food convince us we stayed. Guess I almost wait about 10 more minutes and when the waitress brings our hamburgers she shows us a very small container and she says sorry but there is no more salad this is the last thing that we have left in the bowl there was not even a spoonful of salad ... I I could not believe my my burgers without salads bone the distinctive touch. Again the manager offered us different options. We decided to go the truth the manager because I suppose I am ashamed and I tell him you do not know how much we expected to come here is our first time here and this is very bad for you so the restaurant then he says they know that I want them to return I want your address to send you a gift card we take all the data we leave sad and disappointed place. Read moreWorst place I’ve been in a long time, granted we normally buy groceries and cook our own food, so when the husband calls and asks if you want to go out you get excited… and then I got there. Service was good, they all seemed friendly and were busting their butts, but they could’ve been a bit better attentive to the customers, seemed like they were playing catch up from supper or trying to get out as fast as possible after closing/their shift. They could have been getting us drinks instead of clearing a table, they were not that busy. The food, my husbands came out cold (chicken pasta) but he ate it. Mine on the other hand, different story. I ordered a sprite (it was a good 5-10 minute wait and then it was just carbonated water, she did remedy that eventually). I have to order off the gluten friendly menu (my life it has to be that way) so I ordered a burger with bacon and cheese, no bun, extra well done with a side salad, chose not to pay extra for a gluten free bun (because why am I paying extra you sure as hell don’t take money off when I order no bun) well my side salad came out, no silverware, sat for awhile before getting some. The salad was very limp and browning lettuce, the dressings (I tried ranch and the Dijon honey mustard, absolutely disgusting to me) Got my burger and it had bbq sauce on it and it specifically says on the gf menu no bbq sauce, so I sent it back obviously I can’t eat it. New one comes out, husband is done eating, I cut mine just to check (I saw the bloody plate, remember extra well done) yep threw it in a to go box and will probably feed it to the dogs. They did give us a discount, but it was really not much.
