Soka Manhattan deserves 5 stars for their quality food, service, and atmosphere. The slight hiccups that any new restaurant experiences are a small price to pay to see a once empty part of Manhattan transformed into a unique offering among Manhattan’s restaurants. -Franklin Fish (Professional Manhattan Restaurant Reviewer)

This place not only has AMAZING hibachi, but also sushi! In fact, I've been trying to branch out and try new things here, so far everything is fantastic! The staff are equally amazing, very friendly, and welcoming. My family & I have been here several times and will continue to enjoy it. I personally love the hibachi soup.

It’s not a hibachi place where they cook in front of you but it’s the same great taste and huge servings. Felix was so kind and attentive the other night. Customer service is great and the food there and as left overs were amazing!

I like to try place a few times before I give a not so great review. We were so excited for this place to open. Thinking, hibachi.. as their website states the following, “talented chefs will entertain you with live hibachi cooking while you enjoy fresh sushi rolls and other delicious dishes”. Thinking these chefs would be cooking at a grill table for you and this was not the case, so that was a complete let down. The kids 5 tiny chicken nuggets for $6.95 do not come with a drink or French fries, we basically had to order everything a la carte for my 8 year old and his meal ended up being more expensive than my bento box. The food was good, I will say that. I really enjoyed the chicken hibachi. But dining in, the service was lacking. It was not busy at the time we went. There were servers standing around and we had to summon the waiter to our table a handful of times to, make orders, ask for a drink refill, and to get our check. I figured welp, if I wanted to order again we would order takeout. So we did. The crab rangoons we ordered were so tiny, good but so small for the price. The sushi pieces came in 5 and those were smaller than sushi you buy at a gas station. Was just very disappointed. Spent $30 on 3 quarter filled rolls. The spicy crab roll just had bits of minced crab. Nothin else! Usually, there are avocado, cucumber or something else up in there for a bit of a crunch. Just wanted to love this place so much and unfortunately there were too many complaints for my liking. I do hope they change a few things while in business here in Manhattan. I would be willing to try back...

First time visiting and it was so hot in the restaurant. Ordered Hibachi combo plates and asked for a price on a combo that was not on the menu and never got a price. We asked to substitute the rice for the noodles on 3 plates and add a side of rice. 2 plates were correct but the 3rd plate had rice. I brought it to servers attention and the noodles showed up at the end of the meal after we were done eating and we were charged $6.95 for them when it should have been the $2.50 for the substitution. The food was good but the veggies were almost all onions. I had 1 broccoli and 1 carrot and a couple zucchini pieces and the rest were onions. The service and wait time was too much. Not sure if I would try again. Maybe for lunch as take out. I know they just opened so they may have a few bugs to work out but I did not enjoy...

I wanted to love this place because I missed having a good Japanese restaurant. When we arrived it was around 4:30. Not many people maybe 3 tables. There is no hibachi grill where they cook in front of you. Our meal comes with soup and salad but they dont offer any soups not made with animal fats. So I took two salads instead. The dressing was suppose to be a ginger dressing. It was watered down and tasted like mayo. We ordered the vegetarian dinner with rice. Our food came out cold and it took another 10 mins to track down our server to ask to reheat it. The food was subpar. And not worth the time, effort or money. The restaurant was clean but our server and good...
