Golden Chick — Restaurant in Mansfield

We have been steady and happy customers of this Golden Chick location. However, we ordered a 20 piece with fries, okra and corn nuggets in January and the food was terrible. The chicken was dry and hard, the fried okra tasted old, and the fries were nasty. We normally love, love, love their fries, but not anymore!

I stopped by with the food the next day and told the assistant manager how dissatisfied we were. She took my bag and emptied out the chicken and starting counting how many were brought back. After 20-30 minutes going round and round with her she finally agreed to give me credit for the 12 piece dinner with one side. She supposedly entered into her little book. I told her that I had no idea she would want evidence of the pieces we tried to eat (as seen in the pic of my plate). To say I was disappointed in the quality of the food, as well as the service I received, trying to get get a credit on a gift card (a present from christmas), is putting it mildly. I asked to speak with the manager ovwr and over, and the gal helping me kept coming back to the front from their office, saying he/she said this, or that,....but would not come out to assist me. 🤔 Since when is a manager so uninterested in an unhappy customer that they won't personally come out to assist.

The food and the handling of the return was pitiful. Not sure when I'll go back to use my limited credit, because the entire scenario left a bad taste in my mouth. Call me extremely uninterested in giving golden chick future business. I feel like $47.00 went down the toilet.

PS. If you order to go, go in the store so you can quality check your meal before getting it home.

Also, know that the fries are no longer batter dipped and a crunchy golden brown, they are limp and taste much like cardboard, not even as good as what you would by in the grocery store. They still advertise their fries as batter dipped, but no longer get them from their supplier. My suggestion, go to Chicken Express where quality and taste go...

May 2021...I'm rating tonight's experience a 1. I used to give this location a 4 star rating back in 2020. The Wicked Wings aren't the same; they've changed tremendously; they are no longer made fresh. Who wants old, heated up Chicken?!? I think when customers complain about the slowness of needing to wait for food (when it's being made fresh), the restaurant eventually changes their speed with preparing and starts serving old food.

Dec 2021...I decided to go back and my son had an allergic reaction to the Fried Chicken. I have pictures of his face. He is allergic to Fish. I called and asked if they cook their Chicken in Fish oil. I was assured they didn't. A few weeks later, I allowed him to try it again and he had another allergic reaction. I took him to his Allergy Dr and he said it "may" have come from Fish. The Fried Chicken has a different flavor (has a semi sweet, unexplainable, cramp my stomach taste). And PLEASE know the difference from Mash Potatoes vs giving plain...

Don't want to slander this place, but I couldn't believe how this company has so many stores with the chicken being mediocre at best.

I had the chicken sanwhich and it was not very good. The bun was similar to their yeast rolls but wasn't buttered or toasted, which is my preference. The chicken breast was dry or anything it just lacked any flavor seasoning.

I had fries with the meal and they were okay. The sweet tea was good, but how can you mess up sweet?

I also tried the two-piece chicken meal (1 roasted & 1 fried). The roasted chicken was descent, and the fried chicken wasn't bad, but again lacked flavor or seasoning. The macaroni and cheese was about what you expect from most fast food restaurants, pathetic. It's similar to what you would get at KFC. Some overcooked pasta in swimming in some cheese flavored sauce.

Overall it wasn't something that I enjoyed so it's unlikely I'll visit again but the customer service was okay and the...
