First let me start off by saying the service was really good. Tan was amazing. He was anticipatory and really kind. But that’s where the good stops.
The fried oyster was terrible. I think I’m going to get food poisoning in a few hours because it tasted like it went bad. 0 seasoning and 60 percent batter and 40 percent oyster.
Takoyaki was okay. It’s the same across DFW since most restaurants get it from the same supplier frozen. Super mushy since you can’t fry it for long or it will pop.
The pork and onion skewer was probably the best thing we had today. Super simple with a sauce similar to a donkatsu sauce.
The ramen was insanely expensive compared to the quality received. Noodles were really dense and had quite a bite to it. The bamboo tasted like it came straight from a can. Pork chashu was thin cut and extremely dry. I couldn’t even finish the ajitama egg. Even Jinya (which I don’t even like) has 2x better quality for the same price. I feel like charging $17 for this should be a crime.
The Kaisen Don was the worst part of it all. The fish/shimi tasted and looked like they just bought it down the street at HEB/Kroger and slapped it on rice and charged $14 for it. My girlfriend couldn’t even eat the tuna since it was so fishy. I tried the hamachi to give it a judge and it was terrible. It should have a bite since it’s a leaner white fish. It just melted like it was frozen and full of water.
If you are charging exorbitant prices for food like this, I expect quality craftsmanship and care. Not a frozen food paradise.
I’m extremely disappointed since I was looking forward to trying this place out, but upon trying the food I don’t think...
Read moreThis new ramen spot looks shiny from the outside, but inside it felt like no one had ever worked a day in a restaurant. Our server knew neither the menu nor the basic flow of service and admitted he was overwhelmed almost immediately. Appetizers that should have set the pace for the meal arrived in random order, one of which came long after some entrées had already come and gone. The kitchen seemed to plate whatever was ready without regard for timing, but then it seemed to not be picked up in a timely manner as items were received cold. I received my plate first, waited 15 to 20 minutes before my friend's plate came, then watched yet another appetizer drift out while the third entrée struggled in behind it. The remaining two meals simply never showed up. What did arrive was barely warm, and when we pressed for help our server apologized and literally said that if he were us he “would never eat here again”. We asked to speak with the manager, who was standing less than ten feet away when the server told them, but she just looked our way and never bothered to approach the table. The indifference from every staff member made it painfully clear that training and customer care were afterthoughts. I basically never write negative reviews, especially harsh negative reviews, but this experience left all of us frustrated, and none of us have any...
Read moreUnderstandably, place is pretty new and working out the flow of operations it seems.
I went with my family for dinner and we waited over an hour for all our food to arrive. At the end, we ended up taking our final entrees to go as we had been there 6:30 to 8pm. Staff is also new and will need more training and experience.
Overall, the dishes were pretty good! They just started serving alcohol so the list of drinks were limited, and some menu items like the salmon skin salad was unavailable at the time.
We also had some hiccups having to recheck on orders and remind waitstaff on what dishes we were waiting for. We had ordered three bowls of ramen and only two were brought out, the third bowl took so long we ended up taking it to go due to the time. We greatly appreciate the staff’s professionalism as we worked through the orders and refunding the one ramen dish.
Winning dishes that we tried were the gyoza and fried squid. Yakitori was pretty good too, although one of our skewers wasn’t fully cooked all the way. Definitely try it out, food was good despite the wait and maybe go for the fried appetizers first and limit to...
