Sunny Thai in Arlington is in Yelp’s Top 100 Restaurants. I used to live near that restaurant but never visited it. Now I live in Mansfield. After reading how good it was, my wife and I drove back to Arlington to try it. It was as good as other reviewers said it was. I wrote a review on Sunny Thai Arlington. Last week, I discovered that Sunny Thai opened a branch in Mansfield. This one was much closer. Just a few minutes away. This was a deal that was too good to miss! The question was “Is it as good as the one in Arlington?” When we arrived at noon, the place was full of customers. Just like the one in Arlington. The man sitting at the next table ordered several dishes without looking at the menu. He must be a regular customer. My wife ordered the Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodle) and I ordered the Panang Curry as a baseline test. Did the restaurant pass the test? With flying colors! Our order came very quickly. How did they do that? We also ordered Mango and Sticky Rice for dessert. Everything tasted delicious. We cleaned our dishes. Our only regret was that we ordered “mild”. We should’ve increased the spice level just a little. The service was quick and polite. One waitress brought two small plates and spoons for our dessert. She noticed that we were sharing the Mango and Sticky Rice. We are coming back. Next time, we’ll order a higher spice level. I’m so glad Sunny Thai is now in Mansfield too.

Had dinner at Sunny Thai the other night and overall it was a great experience. It was semi busy for a weekday evening, especially since I came after 8 PM (they close at 9:30). The restaurant is easy to spot from the street, small and cozy with compact tables, and the vibe was chill. Staff was super relaxed and friendly—sat me down right away, no wait. Started off with a Thai iced tea, and wow—it hit the spot! Haven’t had one in a while, and this one gets 5 stars. I then ordered the Tom Kha soup with shrimp at medium spice level. I always recommend trying this soup at Thai places since each one is a little different. This version leaned less on coconut flavor, but the cilantro, lime, mushrooms, and tomatoes gave it a really refreshing balance. Another 5 stars. For my main, I went with crispy beef and fried rice. Honestly, this was my least favorite of the night—it just didn’t have the flavor I was hoping for. Next time I’ll definitely try something else. To finish, I had sticky rice with mango, and it was perfect. Sweet mango with warm sticky rice—this dessert is a must! Even with the main dish not hitting the mark, I still give Sunny Thai 5 stars. They offer vegetarian and even vegan options clearly marked on the menu, which is a plus. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area. Until then, back to the H for me—I’m out!

Thanks for deleting my previous review on February 16th so I could make another one. They cannot make curry here. It tasted like Cajun gumbo. It is the watery sauce with oil separated on top kind of curry, not the creamy kind that people actually like. This is a place to get noodle and rice dishes, not curry. And when a server sees someone took two bites, asked for the check and left without asking for a container, they're obligated to send the food back or not charge the customer, in any normal restaurant. I even tipped. This food was not fit for a dog to eat and it is theft to charge $15 for something that they don't know how to make, and objectively made incorrectly. This is exactly the quality you would expect from a small suburb where there isn't Thai people. If you want good curry go to northeast DFW where Thai people live

Update 4/23/25 Sunny Thai was really good at first, as you can see below at my previous review. They have since fallen off in my opinion. Inconsistent spice, taste, quality. They charge you for everything, won’t even allow you to sub veggie for veggie at no additional charge. $60+ for carry out in general is insane, unfortunately it’s not worth it. Today we ordered, my rice is super sticky and lacks flavor, I mean the soy sauce isn’t doing anything for my food. My husband ordered pepper steak, can’t find the steak. Disappointed once again…

Two days in a row!! This is the best Thai food we’ve had here, and we’re actually going to stick with this place, also happy it’s close by!

Very good service, the ladies were pleasant. Easy ordering online as well. Yesterday I had the Thai fried rice with chicken and shrimp, spicy, delicious!! Huge portion too, plenty of meat! My husband had the rad naa, he enjoyed it, would get rice instead of noodles next time.

I had plenty of food left over today, so I ordered the vegetable spring rolls (5 per order) to add to my lunch, delicious! Perfect actually. Oh and the sweet and sour sauce is top tier! I put it on my rice and used it for the rolls. My husband had the orange chicken today which was amazing, the sauce was so good, tender chicken, perfectly breaded, not too much. I dipped the spring rolls in the orange chicken and put some on my left over rice. Can’t wait to try other dishes, and also dine in.

Three small complaints, spice level wasn’t consistent (very spicy was about medium), tails were left on the shrimp, sewage...
