The V by HH — Restaurant in Maple Lake

Called ahead to ensure they had a table for 9 available. Service seemed to be acceptable initially for drinks and appetizers, but once we started placing our meal order, the waitress didn’t know the menu well. We all ordered full meals, steaks, shrimp, walleye dinners and pasta. Mashed potato gravy was gelatinous with a crust on top from being under heat lights. Out of the two blacked walleye dinners one fillet was nice and white inside and the other was grey and slimy, nasty tasting mud vane, it was a bad fillet. I asked the waitress to take it back, we won’t be eating it, it is too fishy. A few minutes later out comes the cook, not apologetic at all and no offer to make something different, instead tells me that he tried the fish I sent back and thought was good, he suggested that I shouldn’t ever order fish again, I told him it was fine, I know that you can sometimes get a bad fillet and I would stick to the steak, which my wife and I were now sharing. The cook continued and said that I would probably find something wrong with the steaks as well, not true we are eating the steak now.

With our busy schedule we do enjoy to go out for meals, but I have never seen a cook come out of a kitchen to chew out a customer-anywhere. Apologize and offer to make a replacement, but not the case here, very odd extremely rude and uncalled for, it set the mood for the rest of the meal with my family and kids. He is lucky I had a big party, and didn’t want anymore drama so they could eat, or I would have left. Our waitress was quite disappointing after that and extremely short, like I did something wrong. I simply sent back food I wasn’t happy with and didn’t ask for any replacement.

We all paid our bills and left a tip, they took the fish off, I would have expected nothing less after the belittling conversation the cook had at me. On the way out some of our party stopped to use the bathroom, unknowingly our waitress and the locals at the table next to us were verbally bashing us out loud.

The locals might love the behavior there but no one in my group will ever be back and I am certainly will never recommend it. Do yourself a favor and get better service without harassment from the cook at...

Usually my food is pretty good from there but tonight I was not impressed. I waited for a long time because they were super busy so understandable. I figured that my food would be fresh or still some what hot when I got home then considering I live right down the road. It was not at all. Very cold fries. I asked for the mushrooms and onions to be on the side of the steak and only the mushrooms were. So my picky son would not touch his dinner because of that.. my turkey melt bread was completely soggy on one side. That piece of bread was not edible at all.. and the bacon was not cooked all the way... I did not call and complain cause I didn't want to go back and wait another 45 minutes and I shouldn't have had to anyways. Again, it was only my 2 bad experience with them getting my order wrong or bad food but I didn't want to have to go back out of my way for them to fix their mistake. I wasn't happy tonight. Usually it would be my go to place in town to eat but my last 2 experiences were not very pleasant and that's why I'm leaving the review. Eat often here with no issues. I called to reserve a table for a group of 13 on a Saturday night. They said they would have it ready. We arrived before our 6:30 reservation to find one waitress and one bartender. They did not have our table ready. The bartender was very rude when I asked when our table would be ready. He said he wasn't told about it and just walked away from us. We then left because of the poor service or lack of any . It was hard to believe that on a Saturday night to only have one waitress and one bartender and nobody knowing what was going on. Why put a reservation in when they can't accommodate on arrival....
