Alden Cafe — Restaurant in Maple Shade Township

The majority of the time I've been here the drinks weren't very good and, to be frank, the diviest dive bars in Philly have an imense amount of charm compared to this place. The majority of the crowd that come to this place on busy days are rowdy and can be very obnoxious. so I started only stopping by for six packs every now and again. The blonde woman has always been nice and helpful but tonight I stopped in and was refused service by a large man saying he was the manager. He said there was no way I am the age I am and refused my ID after scanning and checking it over and over. He was rude and I'm pretty sure his personal opinion shouldn't matter once the ID had been proven time and time again to be REAL. He was rude and smug and he, actually, has served me before multiple times. I will no longer bring them my service and I will warn others to do the same, especially since it's either the worst or second worst bar in the area anyway and attracts...

Of the 37 years I've lived in the area, this was my first time visting the Alden Cafe. The place was empty and not much going on. We were there about 8pm on a Saturday evening too. I've since been back a few times and have actually stayed to hang out and have some food. One major plus, they have fried pickles! I've also tried the buffalo wings (medium) and they are phenomenal!! Absolutely way better than the Jug Handle. The place seems to always be filled with the usual bar flies and sometimes service can be a bit slow, but we usually grab a table to ourselves and enjoy the food. I took my son here on a Wednesday and they had live music outside. The staff came right over to us and got us started with drinks while we reviewed the menu. We order s few different things and everything was great. While we ate the staff came over to us plenty of times to make sure we did not need anything else. I highly recommend this place for a great meal and service. It is not in my neighborhood, but I will gladly make the drive to go there again. Plus, its next to an ice cream stand!!!
