I like their pizza, because they make it however I want, and they use fresh ingredients. Service is friendly, laid back, but gets bit hectic at busy times. Busiest times are lunchtime Mon-Fri, and Friday night. Pizza variety is good. Has menu of Italian and American snacks and meals. If I want a pie they don't have ready, the Italian-American owner Antonio happily makes me any custom pie I think-up with any crust thickness and level of crispiness that I want. (I often order a white pizza with grilled chicken, spinach and fresh garlic, thin and crispy crust.) They also can bake the top and bottom of pizza at different levels of crispness. I live 1 block away, but I asked and they told me they deliver within 5 miles for orders $10+. The only people that make pizza there know what they're doing and are efficient. For counter and table service, they mostly use high-school students from Columbia HS across the street. For some of these kids, it's the first job they have, but the shop tries to give job opportunities to students that are responsible and courteous. I've been going there for years and never have had or seen an issue. They have a typical selection of bottled and canned drinks, but they don't have a soda machine or serve coffee or desert, just good Italian food. If you want that at reasonable prices with friendly service, go Maplewood Pizza. It's a typical simple shop. They don't take reservations, but they have a small side room people can set up for party/gathering. I counted they have 23 chairs in there, but looks like they could fit another 5-10 chairs max. If u go, you might want to try their version of a Margarit pizza, which they call "Grandma" pizza...
Read moreThis place has been a Friday night tradition for the 7 years we’ve lived in Maplewood. We also typically get 5-8 pizzas for our kids’ birthday parties. But... the service has gone downhill in the last few months and came to a head tonight. I ordered a half pepperoni and half veggie pizza for take out (they were short on the phone and didn’t say when the order would be ready). I picked up the order, took it home and discovered that it was half sausage and half veggie. When I called back, they confirmed that the order was for half pepperoni/veggie and said they’d remake it but then hung up again before telling me how long the wait was going to be. I drove back to the restaurant to get the correct order. I waited a little and then was told that I needed to bring the other pizza back before they would give me the right order. They never mentioned this on the call, and insisted that they wouldn’t remake the order until I either brought the pizza back or paid for the new pizza and got a refund when I brought the wrong order back. Were they going to serve the pizza that had been in my home to unsuspecting customers? Never ordering...
Read moreTried, Maplewood Pizzeria, for the first time in ages (10+ Years 😅). I got the Buffalo Chicken, Chicken Parm, & Margherita Slices. Also with a side of Marinara (For the crust #TML). The Buffalo Slice was very good. Would give it a solid 6/10. The Chicken Parm Slice was decent. Would give it a 4-5/10. Their Margherita slice on the other hand was very disappointing. Would give it maybe a 2-3/10. The Marinara Sauce on the side was also extremely disappointing. Not much flavor to it tbh. All in all, even though this particular instance wasn’t the best, they have a really nice staff and some decent slices. There was enough flavor to make an unclouded, but unfulfilled, judgement. Will have to try their other menu items to give an official rating, but would def recommend, Maplewood Pizzeria, for anyone looking for moderately priced and decent tasting pizza in...
