i ordered a vanilla cake with sprinkles back in April for a family member's birthday. i decided to try the place out without knowing that it was located where cedar ridge cafe used to be, which is a place i visited once and never went back to since the food was disappointing. ordering the cake online was extremely easy and i loved having plenty of options to choose from! options are an indicator of success and skill for me. when i went to pickup my cake after driving for about 30-40 minutes from my hometown, the staff who assisted me were amazing in answering my questions regarding the items they had in the cases and how to safely transport the cake during a potentially bumpy ride through highways and multiple cities. we had a disappointing experience with Jammed Up Bakery in Union last September when the vegan cake we bought completely fell apart on the relatively short and smooth ride back home despite being on my passenger's lap. we were fearful that the cake was going to fall apart and be excessively sweet like the one we purchased last year. we got home with the funfetti cake from yellow rose and opened the box while holding our breath since we went up and down steep hills and hit bumpy roads on the way home. THE CAKE WAS COMPLETELY INTACT AND THE EXACTLY THE SAME WAY WE SAW IT WHEN WE FIRST RECEIVED IT AT THE CAFE. we were overjoyed and looked forward to tasting the cake. i am thrilled to say that the cake was obviously fresh, beautifully decorated, delicious in taste, and amazing in texture. if you're looking to buy a vegan birthday cake, i would HIGHLY recommend you to buy it from here. i also requested to change the date that was going to be written on the cake with short notice because i noticed that i submitted the wrong one and they graciously accepted the change! 10/10 customer service 10/10 quality 10/10 experience. thank you and I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI remember hearing about this place when they were first getting started, and DROOLING! Unfortunately with the pandemic, I couldnāt bring myself to get to the storefront when they opened in December. Now, post-vaccine, Iāve been 3 times in the last 3 weeks! This place was certainly worth the wait. Their baked goods just melt in your mouth, and are rich of flavor. They reeled me in with the Earl Gray Lavender scone, and solidified my loyalty with their doughnuts! I have been vegan for years, and their strawberry crumb muffin brought me back to a good place! I couldnāt believe how nostalgic and flavorful it was. I like trying new things every time I go, and have even gotten my friends hooked onto this place. My next conquest is the beloved biscuits. I think everything is fairly priced given the great quality you receive! The staff is always super friendly when I pick up my orders, and the owners seem sweet based on their social media. The storefront is painted an adorably welcoming shade of yellow, and is nestled into the cutest area neighboring thrift/consignment shops. Itās also located right along the South Mountain reservation, and Turtleback Zoo loop, if you want to bring your treats with you and hang out in nature. Overall, I love this place! Iām planning on having them make a cake for my birthday next month. My boyfriend and I also ājokeā that they Must cater our wedding....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUPDATE: coffee quality has improved. Interior is brighter and more feng shui. It was great before, but now it's even better. Very respectful, comfortable, come-as-you-are community vibe. Wish I lived closer.
It's very similar to Cedar Ridge Cafe which was there before, but they have more of a bakery menu and less of a large savory menu (although I understand they do serve vegan breakfast). The prices seem better than CRC, too. My main gripe with CRC wasn't the prices, really, though; it was that the coffee seemed like an afterthought. (I also hated how they weren't open on Sundays). Any place that calls itself a "Cafe" should, in my opinion, make the effort to have excellent coffee, both drip and espresso, both regular and decaf, both hot and iced. Today at Yellow Rose, I learned there is no pourover option and no decaf espresso, and the decaf drip coffee that was there had been brewed quite some time earlier. I expressed my feelings to the folks who were working there and they were receptive, which was nice. I will say my oatmilk cappuccino was very good, and the decaf coldbrew I got was good too, even though coldbrew is not really my thing. Overall, Yellow Rose has a lot of promise! I'll...
