I have heard so much about this lil' place, and when I was invited here for dinner, I couldn't pass up the opportunity! It is a shock and awe experience! The old rustic building and historical decor feels inviting and fun. The wooden picnic benches and paper placemats carry this theme throughout the experience. Our server, Connie, was fantastic! As sweet as pie and very helpful and accommodating! We had the pork ribs to split as an appetizer and much to my surprise, they served this slightly charred, sticky moist slab of meat on cream colored plastic plates that had to have dated back to my early childhood. Another shock moment...in which quickly became an "awe" when I tried the pork ribs! Fall off the bone, tender and juicy! The BBQ sauce paired on the side is my new favorite! We ordered our food, and the ranch beans came family style with an entire loaf of soft but sweet grilled bread. A house salad with a vat of dressing, just as I had requested. I also read the reviews about the salsa and its intended place at the table. I quickly scooped up a portion and added it to beans. The reviewers are RIGHT!! It added a whole other depth of deliciousness! The half chicken, the bone in ribeye, and the salmon with its wine white and butter sauce were all fantastic! Cooked to perfection and probably some of the best steaks I have had cooked over an open flame! Is it eclectic? Yes! Is it good? Absolutely! Is it expensive? It can be! But it's worth every bite and every penny, I didn't even have to dress up for the event! This qauint and quirky place knows how to keep it simple and seriously delicious!

Had a great celebratory dinner with the hubby. Our waitress was Connie and she was great. This was our 1st time here and it was unlike anything we ever imagined. We knew the food would be great however I was kind of skeptical because of the bearing reviews on both Yelp and Google; nonetheless we gave it a shot. I have to start off by saying that we both thought we were going to be walking into a pretty fancy place even on a Sunday evening. We were pleasantly surprised are the exterior up close, the old style saloon feeling inside and the super basic setup. We appreciated this, in every aspect of it and next time we'll come prepared with a big permanent marker so that we can document our presents on the wall with many others. :-) We both ordered a T-bone steak, medium-well, one with the baked potato, two salads, a bowl of ranch style beans and a basket of fresh garlic bread. Connie suggested dipping the garlic bread into the beans and guaranteed we'd love it. Sure enough, we did. Our steaks were cooked nearly well done versus medium well but were still full of flavor and rather tender. After we were done Connie convinced us to try their sundae topped with homemade cocoa fudge and again, she was right...to die for. Even the hubby ate half of it...mmmmm. So good. Kudos to whomever makes it! <3 Thanks Connie for your suggestions and great service. See you soon!

I've driven past it so many times. I finally decided to try it out. I knew it has been around a long time. Since 1947 in fact. It is a very unique restaurant. It very much feels like old Tucson and the Southwest. The environment and decor are cool and rustic. The lighting is dim in the evening and there is live music. The band was very pleasant to hear at a great volume. Not too loud at all. The food was delicious. I had the beef ribs that fell off the bone. I liked that the bbq sauce was on the side. The sauce is not a too sweet bbq like so many others. This is the way I love it, like Gates BBQ in Kansas City. My wife had the sirloin that was cooked a perfect medium rare. There was a nice smoky taste to all the food. You can smell this place from a long ways away. The smoke and meat aroma wofting by you. On a last note. I think one of the biggest reasons our visit was special is the staff. It seems like they enjoy their job. Good job Lil Abners.

First I have only one other time ever took time to post a bad review. I take time to help people. But I am helping the public by posting this negative review. Staff are all super friendly. Now the bad Selling choice and prime prices for clearly no roll or maybe select at best Place is filthy and instead of improvements to a hot, sticky place they do things like have you wrote on the walls. This is an old country thing but to me it’s disgusting especially with an easy $150 tab for two. Cooks are grungy high school age kids and clearly haven’t learned to master an open grill the fake choice t bone was 1/4 in thick, well done instead of med rare and all gristle. Even the $5 bakes potato was fairly raw and hard. They actually charged me $3.50 for soda water from the bar... let that process for a moment, not a mineral water or even a Tonic, I am talking the bar gun water that has a bit of co2 mix lol. Absolutely insane. The place is a total white trash dumpster with dirty restrooms with foul writing g all over the stalls that the owners actually pass out the markers to write with? The only thing that makes me crazy, is that my wife was dying to go there in memory of her father and her childhood memories were of great steak and nice people. I passed on eating my steak and my tab for my wife to eat a fairly tough 7oz meager fillet, a raw potato, a piece of pie, a soda water and two sasprillas was $70 Absolutely insane. Save yourself the pain and Cruz over to a chain at least you know what you are getting into. Embarrassing man I love to support local business but totally freaking...

Food is always good. Portions are a little strange but thats okay given the quality.

The 2 stars is for the service I recieved. I actually called ahead and made reservations, then called back a 2nd time to confirm just how many were coming... And they had completely forgotton that I had called earlier. Which is okay, because It was Thursday so we didnt really need to make a reservation anyways. So when we showed up they seemed to be expecting us inside. But I made reservations for outside sitting. When i told the hostess this she seemed to be somewhat annoyed. But brought us out there fairly quickly and my dad and I had to move the tables ourselves.

As a currently employed server its hard to write this but i feel as though my service was beyond poor. I would think that a server would be all over an 11 top, especially if its someones birthday. But because we sat outside for some reason we had the busser come over 5-6 times taking awkward half drink orders and saying our server "should" be here... We sat for 25 minutes before we got our 1st round of drinks. They weren't insanley busy inside so it was just the fact that we were outside they decided to mistreat us cause they had to walk far from the POS system or something... We got there at 630 with reservations, only had 2 1/2 rounds of drinks and left at 930... It took 3 hours to complete a service which in my book is an awful method of serving. I usually tip well even under circumstances because i work the same job. But for a place to have such prices i need more than a...
