We had a very disappointing date night at the Snook Inn, which we have visited over the past 15+ years. Granted, there is new ownership that is trying to do well, but there are way too many loose ends. Our attentive young waitress seemed to disappear for extended periods of time. Consequently, the restaurant lost several rounds of liquor sales that they could have served to us, but didn’t because of the absence of the young lady. We ordered a draft beer that could only be described as slightly higher than room temperature, Certainly not cold nor super cold that you can get at a number of local restaurants (Miller ale House, Texas roadhouse, etc.). I actually had to put ice out of my water glass into the beer to make it drinkable. When I asked our waitress about that, when she showed up, she said that they had been having plumbing problems “upstairs“. Not good. Fortunately, the salad bar is still wonderful. Not enough good things to say about it! On the other end, most of the pickles in the pickle tub were soggy and obviously been in there for quite a long time. We could not eat ours. Our appetizer of their version of Oysters Rockefeller was mediocre at best. We did not even finish eating our order of five oysters. Not hot, just warm, and very little taste. We asked our waitress about the lobster we ordered. We wanted to know, just out of curiosity, if it was from New England or a Florida lobster tail. She did not know, and when she came back from questioning the chef, he was not sure either. Can you believe that? Our medium rare steak had a very decent taste, but about half of it was absolutely raw. By that point, we didn’t want to take the time to send the steak back. On a very positive note, they seem to have a very large staff that were constantly moving around cleaning up and sweeping up as patrons left their tables. They obviously have an incentive or directive to keep the place clean. That was nice. We may go back at sometime, but it certainly won’t...
Read moreOh man, we had the best day. First we started with a great swim at the Golf of Mexico at Tigertail Beach where we met some lovely people who recommended we go to Snook Inn Restaurant for some seafood, and so we did. We felt very welcomed at the restaurant with their great staff. There also was live band playing great songs, they even threw in some country songs which was awesome. Now for the food. We definitely committed a sin and ordered too much. But everything was so delicious just by looking at the menu. We started with a portion of Shrimp Cocktail, which was great. A portion of fried calamari, amazing. The Ahi tuna nacho was simply superb, one of the best we ever had. Everything tasted so fresh. And a portion of french fries for good measure, it was also great. Now for the main dishes. I ordered the surf & turf, the filet mignon was grilled to perfection, medium rare as ordered and the lobster tail was properly seasoned and grilled, the dish also came with mash potatoes and some grated carrots with zucchini done with some butter. Simply divine! My brother ordered the crab cake sandwich which he loved and mom ordered a traditional fish sandwich, also amazing. Their dishes came with onion rings, that they added for a small extra fee, and I gotta say TOTALLY WORTH IT. In my personal experience those Onion Rings were the best that I ever had since I moved to Florida. The batter was crunchy and NOT soaked in oil, it was fried to perfection. My biggest regret in this trip was not being able to take what was left to go, since we live in the opposite coast of Florida! But we're already planning our next visit with the excuse that our dad has to come with us this time, but really it's just for the food! Can't wait to stop by again! Totally worth the trip! Thank you to all...
Read moreVisiting Marco Island for the first time and came upon the Snook Inn and Tiki Bar at the end of Bald Eagle Drive.
The restaurant was busy and lively so we decided to join the locals and have lunch. There are seating options outside in the bar area as well as inside. There was a live band playing, guests dancing and most of the tables were taken so we sat chose the inside dining area by the window with a nice view of the water.
Our server Ava, although evidently busy with multiple tables, greeted us warmly and was very attentive throughout.
I ordered a Rum Runner and the Ahi Tuna Nachos appetizer. The drink was served uniquely in a paper cub fashioned from a to-go container for Chinese food. Very clever and functional! The Ahi Tuna “nachos” consisted of fried wontons, beautifully garnished with diced avocado, sea weed salad, diced cucumber and scallions, all finished with wasabi cream.
My wife ordered the Crispy Calamari appetizer which was delicious and beautifully plated and garnished. She also made a trip to the salad bar, which was included with her main course, and raved about the freshness and variety of selections. For a main course we enjoyed the Snook Inn Platter consisting of grouper and mahi filets, shrimp, and crab cake accompanied by asparagus and a delicious coconut jasmine rice. Beautifully served and perfectly cooked. Very enjoyable.
We also ordered the Classic Cubano sandwich with onion rings (slight up charge). The pork was nicely seasoned and the sandwich was very authentic in appearance and taste. Great treat!
For dessert we split a piece of Triple Chocolate Mousse cake which was superb.
Overall an excellent visit consisting of great food, service, and atmosphere. We...
