The Spot Tavern of Marengo — Restaurant in Marengo

Nice hometown type establishment with food and drinks. Have about 4 gambling machines that I'm not familiar with due to Illinois laws. Haven't lived in IL since early 80's. MN has pull tabs in the bars and you have to go to reservation casinos otherwise for gambling. Friendly local people. Moved back 3 wks ago and was my 1st night out with a sister n her friends. Good time with karaoke. I have never seen so many talented people who could sing! in one place! It was great. Until some fool turned my name in for a song I couldn't sing... We were driving through Marengo and saw this little gem and decided to stop. Is a great little dive bar. Beer was cold, had great drink selection, the bartender was great as well. We got the jalapeño burgers, they were awesome, cooked perfectly and had a nice little kick. We preferred the onion rings to the fries but both were good. Met the owners and they were great, sat down and talked to us. We will definitely be back, and highly recommended if you are around. And the prices were amazing given the quality and...

We made an unplanned stop here, looking for a late lunch on a Fall Saturday. The Spot looked like just the kind of one off hole in the wall joints that we gravitate to. We sat at the bar and got fast friendly service. With our beers we ordered a burger, a chicken sandwich and onion rings.
