As locals we had high expectations of this new restaurant especially since we frequent Tomatoes all year round and have never had a bad experience. The food was a solid 8.5/10 with the cocktails following right behind, but they need to work on their customer service before next season. The waitress we had on the outside deck was an angel and so sweet, but we first waited over 20 minutes longer than our original wait time, and only was seated after we went up to check on our table. After giving our name to be sat, we had gone upstairs to get a drink while we waited and was treated extremely poorly by the blonde female bartender at the bar upstairs on Monday night. She flat out ignored us at first and after realizing one of our party forgot her id, she’s 22, proceeded to kick us off the seating immediately and refused to serve me, 23 with a valid NJ license, a SINGLE drink, saying “well you can only order one and we have cameras downstairs so you can’t give her any” in a very condescending tone and facial expression and she immediately walked away again not giving me a chance to order anything and started to ignore us again. We understand that it was busy and semi new still but we both have worked in busy restaurants down the shore and never would have been allowed to speak to customers that way and to accuse a customer of trying to sneak drinks like we were 15. Even the couple that was sat next to us said “she didn’t treat anyone else this way” and were very shocked at how we were being treated and I could tell it left them feeling confused as well. We left after feeling like we were not wanted there and clearly not the clients that she had wanted, and went to Tomatoes across the street where we were NOT carded and severed drinks. Will return for the food next season and to give the service...
Read more2nd time here. great views, mediocre food and poor service. long wait- not even close to worth it. good place to stop by for a few drinks then eat elsewhere. we were told 1.5 hour wait. checked in several times after that because they were seating people who checked in AFTER me (same group size…) in prime seating. i asked for 1st avail, the other groups asked for outdoor seating specifically - that was the restaurants excuse, even though you would think 1st avail would prioritize over an outdoor request. ended up waiting 2.5 hours. when finally seated, they told us to wait another 30 minutes because the kitchen was backed up. when we finally got approached by the server, they wouldn’t make a SIMPLE side dish swap for my wife’s food allergy... just a side of rice, chef refused.
young place that has potential with the atmosphere, decent drinks- but they need to fix a lot as a restaurant.
update following response: regarding wait times - yes, we asked for first available but people with specific outdoor requests we’re seated before us despite checking in later. my wife with celiacs and a dairy allergy was offered no possible substitutions or alternatives whatsoever to her meal. the manager said there were no accommodations they could offer for her. there was also a dearth of forks that night. it’s a new restaurant - it will take time to fix these things but important to bring to attention so issues...
Read moreHas anyone been to tideline in Margate? I went today and was very underwhelmed with the food and service. My mom and I went today for lunch. Crowd was okay not too too busy. We both ordered non-alcohol drinks, and water never got the water and the drinks came half way through our meal. My mom ordered soup and we needed to ask for a spoon. I ordered the whipped ricotta and it was tangy. Then ordered the crab cakes $40 with a potato salad that again was tangy. We had to once more ask for silverware and no napkins. Asked for French fries instead of the potato salad was told that’s 12 dollars more because they don’t substitute, it’s an order. Spoke the manager in she seemed unapologetic and said “Tangy” is the theme for their restaurant The small plates are small, the dinners are not worth the high dollars If I went back it would be in the winter time when they are looking for business because the high price paying out of towners are gone. But STILL gave 20% percent tip And you have to wait for a manager to let you down the elevator. My 83 y/o mother can...
