I would like to start off by saying this is an absolute GEM of a location, absolutely breathtaking views. If you would like a place where you can be racial profiled, treated unfairly, and rejected for your reservation, this is the pace to go. My significant and I showed up around 12:40 and they were not busy at all. We felt so lucky because HOW?? anyway we went to the front desk where a short woman with long black hair, possibly hispanic was standing, as soon as we started walking up she immediately looked at us and walked away... weird but I gave it the benefit of the doubt, instead of trusting my instincts. After about 5 minutes the woman came back to us and now there was another couple behind us. I honestly felt thats the only reason she came to assist when she did... but again lets also let that one go.
Now she comes up and says "do u have a reservation" I said no but I saw plenty online so figured we didn't need one... my mistake, guess she didnt like that... she said wrong, you do its a hour and a half wait. I looked at her shocked and looked around the restaurant where we saw MANY open seats available. I said interesting ok, and walked away, because at this point you are disrespectful, and shame on me for letting this go this far, my husband then said what about the bar, as the bar only had 3 people, she said sure go ahead but only drinks can be ordered at the bar, no food. I then went online and made a reservation, there were PLENTY, I picked one for 12:45, and we went to the bar, as we are sitting at the bar a gentleman befriended us and we drank and laughed... then his appetizer came... I said wait we were informed that u cant eat here. he stated "what ?! thats absurd I come here and go straight to the bar every time".... interesting....... anyway now its our reservation time, we get up pay and go to our reservation... the lady sees us approach and guess she knew what we did because she said. how can I help you , I said well we now have a reservation, she said for what time, I advised her 12:45, she looked it up , saw it, then waled away to her general manager, who is "JUAN TURNIL" he came out with her about 2 minutes later, guessing she fabricated a story because he immediately said to us, sorry we are too busy and can not accept your reservation. there are none. I said well we have been here for now about 45 minutes... so how long until we can be seated, he said "whatever she said" interesting... aren't you the manager? I sad I ok when will that be, he repeated again" whatever she said" I laughed and said well originally she said a hour and a half and now its been 45 minutes, he said well then a hour and a half... I said okay but again we've been here for 45 minutes, he then repeated himself again. I then asked for his name, realizing I already has his card in my hand. I have never felt so disrespected from beginning to the end of my interaction. I really hope corporate at Whiskey red reads this and does some training at their location. Service like this is completely...
Read moreThis was my first, and last experience I will have at Whiskey Red's Restaurant. I went there this past Sunday to enjoy a bridal shower brunch with one of my dearest friends. Outside of the beautiful view of the Marina, and the fun we eventually had amongst ourselves, the staff, (more specifically the manager Daniel), was very rude and unprofessional.
The multiple issues were as follows:
Even though we had reservations for this special event, we were made to wait to be seated because our tables were not ready. Secondly, he attempted to sit our party at tables not in proximity to each other, which was very frustrating because it defeated the main purpose of the bridal shower; to share this experience with the full bridal party. When the manager was asked by the bride's young adult daughter to accommodate us sitting together, which should have been a given, his quick and apparent agitated response was, "You guys are killing me!!"
Thirdly, he proceeded to make us stand in the vicinity of multiple tables as they placed two tables together after our initial complaint, while the guests already enjoying their brunch appeared to be uncomfortable with us standing around, (our reservation was at 10:30 am), so the restaurant had few guests.
He then told us they were short staffed, and backed up in the kitchen, (how was that possible when their restaurant had just opened at 10 am, and why would you tell your guests that before they were even seated?) They provided us with one server, which wasn't the biggest issue, it was the fact our entire party wasn't served their meals at the same time. In fact the bride's table was the last table served. Additionally, they made so many of the meals incorrectly, (and let's not forget most our meals came without any seasoning), at least 4 meals were sent back 3 times, so they eventually had to take some charges off the closing bill.
Further, the manager Daniel never came back to see how we were doing, after all things considered. He didn't even think to ask, "How is the food? Is everything going OK?"
The crux of the day, was when the server had the audacity to tell us to lower our voices, we were too loud. Excuse me!! It was a bridal shower, so we were playing customary bridal shower games, and all in attendance were extremely grown, and classy. Further, our party was seated outside, so the boats, canoes, kayaks, and other various water activities occurring simultaneously adjacent to the restaurant were louder than any noise their staff alleged we were producing, and were complaining about.
Suffice it to say, had it not been for my friend's bridal shower, and us maintaining the day was all about her, I would have expressed my annoyance, and disappointment with their unprofessional service at the restaurant. Hence, this detailed review. Working in a service oriented profession myself, I don't believe the customer is always right. However, the sum total of our disappointing experience at Whiskey Red's Restaurant left way too...
Read moreThe three stars are for the ambience and great view by the water. I used to go to Shanghai Red prior to being whiskey red but I felt an entire shift with the menu. I had recommended this place to gather with my friends our family members and they used to always like it now that it's the whiskey red, we went for a free reception gathering, reservations were needed we made sure to reserve indoor outdoor patio with the water view but we ended up with a different table two words the indoor of the patio. We tried to move but they said it wasn't possible.
The appetizers were good such as the spinach dip and fried calamari's. Oysters were extremely small extremely tiny. Not exactly what we expected. The dinner menu seem to be limited where you have a choice of two but all both options are just mashed potatoes or fries and then the veggies is only broccolini and they're not even steamed right it's very hard that one could not cut through it.
The food was noticeably very salty and the jumbo shrimps were not any close to a jumbo shrimp. some of us could not even complete their dish because of the amount of salt in there with the caper and white sauce on top of that made it even saltier.
The cocktails are and drinks are good the barbecue ribs were standard and tasty.
Overall it wasn't a very enjoyable experience as we expected and the napkins were not at the table until we had to request them and instead you only get one for each due to covet and what they give you is a disposable paper towel that has a harsh texture I wouldn't use as a napkin.
I also requested a cake on the up on reservation that was on the house as a treat for the couple but they ended up no serving that either so overall The experience wasn't that great to recommend for an occasion unless you're going for a snack and a drink I would not spend that much for fine dineas there would be plenty of better option especially that I skipped the special seafood portion with the two sides since it was limited and I went to get something else from the menu that was salmon with veggies and potatoes to find out it was exactly what you would have ordered in there special the veggies were only broccolini as well. you can still have another veggie option which is the coleslaw and it was very core shredded and you cannot really eat that it wasn't good so nobody at the table had it.
Another thing was the photography we were told we would receive a complimentary postcard, but it turned out to be an advertisement postcard of the place also has a wear hiring and then the photo that was supposed to be the postcard was very tiny one inch photo added to the collage on that postcard which is commercial and not what...
