We had planned for our wedding reception to be held at the Hornblower Event and Cruises. We understood that the current pandemic would provide some ambiguity in the planning until the last moment. I'm giving it a one-star because the two wedding coordinators that we worked with initially were friendly and polite and we received a timely refund of our deposit. But that's about it. This company is highly unprofessional, highly unorganized, highly anti customer service and communication was very minimal and very much delayed. Throughout our planning process, we were never kept up to date timely and regards to current events. We were blamed for the lack of communication including the information that the company itself withheld and not telling us in regards to our wedding reception planning. We were given notice 30 days before our wedding reception that there were going to be additional restrictions that would essentially make the reception not happen. We were given an attitude of either go with it or leave it. The contract that we signed was never adhere to by the company and was broken several times by the staff themselves. This company was deceptive in its practices, withheld information that was pertinent to our decision planning in regards to our wedding reception, lack customer service, communication was significantly delayed and ambiguous at best and we felt that we were treated poorly and unprofessionally. Staff did not care to address any concerns or complaints in regards to the service being provided. They also gave us a free upgrade and then 30 days before the reception, they wanted to tell us that we had to read the revenue minimum which they never told us initially about a year before. We sacrificed, planned and was highly flexible since the Marina del Rey location was moved to Newport Beach. We had made transportation reservations, getting people organized and transported to the Newport location that was almost an hour and a half away. Overall, I suggest that you find another company that would give you better customer service and more for your money than this company. Also if you do decide to go with them, please make sure to check your contract and make sure that you hold them responsible for what's in it. finally, please make sure that the yacht that you choose has all of the amenities that you need including working heaters and sound system. I wish I had better things to say besides that the two coordinators were initially polite and friendly to work with. I hope they get their act together because they once was a good place to have a harbor lunch or brunch. They lost our business and all families and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreToday was my first time coming on a brunch cruise and I wanted to start off saying this cruise was wonder They had great musicIt was live jazz and the waitress energy was on point and being in a boat to bring in my moms 46th birthday was the ultimate birthday present I could ever give herBut things shorty turned left when we were seated and then announced that we could mingle around get food from the self service bar So I ended up getting everything you could see in the pictures below And the white creamy chicken Alfredo you see below i was eating and conversing back and forth with my mother and a friend I noticed my chicken didnāt taste right so I took it out of my mouth and the entire piece of chicken was green Ugghhh i told my mom that the chicken was diseased and ran to the bathroom. I ended up forcing myself to throw up all the food I consumed there In return I didnāt want to eat anymore food because I was traumatized by the green piece chicken that was smothered in creamy Alfredo sauce my mother ended up giving the plate to the waiter who ended up trashing it before I could get a picture I will include a picture of what it looked like though the manager was aware of the issue and tried to cover it up with the most ridiculous lie saying it turned green due to it being grilled i couldnāt help it but laugh š I guess thatās the best thing that came to mind at that time frame she was a sweet heart though ā„ļø I believe her name is Christina now what I didnāt like was they kept the contaminated chicken Alfredo dish out and didnāt notify any of the guest of the issue or simply took the dish off the menu some of the guest caught on the situation and stopped eating the Alfredo at this point I was in disbelief I had to go out to the deck just to clear my mind I no longer desired to be on the boat I wanted to get off but I didnāt want to ruin it for the other 20 plus passengers by requesting to go back so I stuck it out for the 2 hours Will I ever go back on a cruise with hornblowers? I highly doubt it i pride a company on quality customer service and I felt like I didnāt receive quality customer service I wasnāt offered a refund I wasnāt offered an apology the dish wasnāt even taken from the serving areas so other guest wonāt get potentially sick No thanks my 100$ can go to other places now this review is my experience Iām not trying to convince you to not to go just be cautious checking through youāre food before eating and bring youāre own utensils Disclaimer my phone wonāt let me post the pictures I will upload them after I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFour of us took this Marina del Rey dinner cruise to celebrate a 50th birthday and 33rd wedding anniversary on Friday night. We used several of the Costco $50 vouchers to pay for the tickets. We also ordered two prepaid premium drink packages for $24+$5.50 service charge / each.
We arrived early and stood on line to board. Boarding and checkin was easy. The ship and facilities were clean and welcoming upon boarding.
Our table was set for four and on the inner row. The window tables are set for folks that paid for the upgrade packages. It was hot today but the air conditioner was not running - just open windows.
We sat at our seat and waited about 10 minutes for our server to get us. We placed our drink orders, including water and waited for them. 20 minutes and still waiting... drinks came at about 7:40... seriously 35 minutes to get drinks, but not water... that took another 5 minutes.
About the drinks... we bought the drink packages because we were told that'll save money. Each " ticket" (four per drink package) gets you a drink of $8 or less from the menu. There are only a couple of $8 drinks on the menu... beers/wines are $5-$7 and there are a few other $7 drinks but many others above $8. So, at $29.50 for four drinks (per package), I think it actually cast a little more. Hey, they we not weak drinks so maybe its a wash.
Bread and spreads were served while people were being seated. Music playing low in the dining area, but we couldn't hear it up top or in the front of the ship. (I think the top might be a designated smoking area... too much smoke for us to stay up there.
A Caesars salad was served with very crisp whole romain hearts. A nice presentation and flavorful.
Dinner was salmon, boneless beef rib, vegies, and mashed potatoes. All were nicely prepared although my wife's salmon was a little dry.
Desert was a small wedge of some chocolatey cake think. Too sweet for me so only one bite, but others said it was good.
The cruise stayed inside the harbor, barely swaying as we moved about two trips around. Might have been able to row a boat faster than travelled. Do not be concerned about motion sickness... there's really no motion.
Our server was obviously new. He didn't know much about the drinks, and took forever to brink and refill water. Hey, when it's 102f in the valley and 90f at the ship, you've gotta make sure your folks have plenty of water.
All in all we had a good time. Nothing spectacular about this trip though, other than spending...
