Markle’s Pancake House & Restaurant — Restaurant in Markle

It was a very disappointing experience. My husband and I drove to Markle, specifically to eat breakfast at this establishment. We don't have many breakfast options in Huntington and wanted to try something new to us so we chose the drive to Markle. It was busy, yet several tables were empty/open. The person who greeted us stated only 1 table was currently clean, which was in the middle of the establishment. We were ok with having hustle and bustle all around so we sat there without complaint. Our drink orders were taken immediately and we didn't have to wait long before the drinks were delivered. That was the highlight of our morning date here... We sat there watching the dirty tables be bussed and others being seated and drinks delivered. We watched as 2 other tables had their orders taken, however they were seated long after us and even after we had set our menus down, signaling our readiness to place our orders. Both of us made eye contact with and smiled at multiple servers during our wait. Not a single one stopped at or claimed our table. In fact, we overheard 2 of them talking about who would get the next table and 1 flat out said she would not be taking any more at all... Being in the middle of everyone and everything in such tight quarters, I surely didn't expect being forgotten but that's precisely what happened. After a minimum of 15 minutes of this, we put $ on the table for our beverages and left. We probably would have spent $25-$30 on our breakfasts but it's not uncommon for us to also tip 25-30% so the server missed out on a pretty darn good tip vs the tips they were receiving from others. We drove back to Huntington and ate locally, where we not only were greeted, seated, ordered and received our drinks and food timely, but we felt welcome there. We wound up spending way more $ there, as we also purchased breakfast for a table with 3 police officers and gave each of our waitresses a $20 tip as well. All in all, we spent damn near $100 on breakfast because the service provided for all around was phenomenal. Due to the inhospitality of your establishment, I don't see us ever making...

We had eaten there many many times but this time was a different waitress. I ordered a meal that said served with salad or soup and meal included potato, vegetable and roll. The waitress said if i got potato i couldn't have the salad. We said the menu said salad or soup included. She said never mind I'll just give to you. Then my daughter ordered a breaded tenderloin meal thinking it was a tenderloin sandwich. So when it came out it wasn't a sandwich so she asked if she could buy a bun to make a sandwich. The waitress just took her plate and brought her a sandwich with about 6 fries. She didn't want fries that's why she preferred the meal for the vegetable. Then when we all checked out, there was 5 of us she put a service charge on all our bills. She said they do that when there's a confusion with the order. The only confusion was on her part. So she gave herself over a $10 tip doing that. I have called multiple times to talk to the manager but the lady which sounds like the waitress says he's not there or in a meeting and wants to know why I need to talk to the manager. Update: i called again to talk to the manager she said she was so i proceeded to tell her what happened. Then she accused me of complaining about them being Hispanic. I had NEVER said anything about being Hispanic. She wouldn't let me get a word in, i said shut up and listen. Yes i shouldn't have said that but i was fed up, i couldn't get a word in. And to be accused of basically being prejudice. If we had a problem with Hispanic why would we continue to eat there. If they want to play that card i will not give them business again. Then some guy gets on and said he was the manager. They hung up on me. If this is how they treat customers not worth it. We will eat elsewhere...

The service and the food were wonderful! My husband and I shared a ham and cheese omelette that came with potatoes and 2 pancakes. The omelettes are made with FIVE eggs! We were both so stuffed we couldn't even finish it all and it was supposed to be for 1 person! I doubt we'll ever be back to Markle again, as we were just passing through, but if we ever are, we WILL be back! The service was awesome too, by the way! The sweet server kept apologizing for not getting to us sooner, but we didn't think she was slow at all. She did a great job and everything was exactly as we ordered it.
