The Pickle — Restaurant in Markle

First time visit, and I asked our server what was recommended. Immediate response, “our potatoes!” And they are listed front and center in the menu as soon as you open it up. I didn’t think we could go wrong. To say I was underwhelmed is pretty accurate. I ordered the buffalo chicken potato. If I hadn’t added the banana pepper rings and requested blue cheese dressing on the side, I would’ve been even more disappointed. The cheese was only browned on the outer edge. And the chicken seemed to be the pre-cooked breast strips you frequently see on salad bars. I would’ve preferred a breaded chicken that would’ve added crunch and held onto the sauce better. As it was, the sauce was rather diluted throughout the whole potato.

In addition to a first time at the restaurant , it was also my first trip to Markle, Indiana. It is a halfway point to meet family who have recently moved to North Manchester. So it is likely we will be back. There are other things on the menu I would be willing to try. Especially the Double topping loaded pizza. We would have ordered that except it takes a 45 minute lead time. We didn’t have that to spare on our first visit, but we can plan around that, and give The Pickle...

Wait was a bit much on all aspects of our dining experience. Our onion rings were burned and mangled, ver difficult to eat. We both ordered a sandwich and both sandwiches were lacking flavor. My husband did enjoy his beer, but the vodka in my Carmel apple clushy over powered the flavor expected. I will say the staff was friendly, but I believe they need more staff to attend to the amount of customers they have. I do not recommend the chili cheese potato either. Disappointment as well. We came originally to try the fatman pizza but was told it was an hour wait for the order so we tried other items from the menu. We will not be going back either. Our visit was on 10/21/22 around 7:15pm. They definitely have their picks on customers as well. Took forever to get the attention of staff. Visited with my hubby. He ordered the pizza keto potato, which is essentially just the toppings of the potato. This is fine, that is what he wanted. After receiving our meal, he said that it tasted like the sauce and toppings from a totinos pizza. He ate about 1/3 of the dish before calling it quits. The food did not seem to appetizing to me so I ordered a side salad with ranch dressing. The dressing was not palatable, I'm not sure if it is spoiled or always tasted like this. I didn't even attempt to eat the salad except for the cucumber slices on top. When we requested the check, the waitress did not even ask if we were satisfied with our meal when we declined her offer for to go boxes.
